I'm looking to replace a well-worn P3 laptop that has become just too slow.  I am not looking for a gaming or primary PC.  This is going to be a moblie workstation.  I've got a great desktop for gaming etc.  Here are my priorities:

1.  Size - I actually considered a Pocket PC, but I need to be able a variety of programs.  I want something easy to carry, not a heavy desktop replacement.

2.  Speed - My current laptop takes FOREVER to boot (one of the reasons it's leaving).  If I want to do quick work on the go I need to boot up fast.

3.  Brightness/resolution/color - My current laptop looks washed out.  I even see this as a problem with current laptops.

4.  Gaming.  Ok, so I might want to do a little gaming here and there.  If it can handle Diablo 2 era games I'm a happy camper.

5.  Price - around $1,000 would be killer.  Above $1,500 is undoable.

Suggestions?

At 12.1" and 4lbs., I would think not. Also, at the M1210's native resolution, the 7400 performs quite well in its own right. I play all Source games on high and COD2 on medium/high.

Not bad, but at $1,100 starting price I'm paying a heafty premium for a dedicated graphics card when integrated should suit my needs.

Integrated graphics aren't going to run anything all that great except for minesweeper and solitaire.

I know what you mean. My old 12" laptop (which I got for $300) runs UT maxed. It will do most games prior to 2000, but that's about it.
