The laptop I have is an Acer Aspire 6920G

4GB RAM (only uses 3 since its a bloody 32bit only laptop... what logic is that...)

nvidia 9500M

2ghz core 2 duo.

Its now 3 years old, after 3-4 months it just stopped working in games properly, even flash games (the more demanding ones) completely lag the systme out to 2 FPS... this was a major problem I never adressed by since im a desktop person I didnt care that much. but I need it alot more now.

Can anyone figure out why such a thing would happen? I cant even play Minecraft smoothly for gods sake! :P

Sounds like you have a virus slowing your machine down. Try scanning for viruses with a decent av (u can get a good free one like MSE or avast). Also defrag it as that will increase performance. Its a weak machine for gaming though tbh, the graphics card is really outdated.

yea try running some anti virus, spyware removal tools, defrag. If your really feeling up to it just do a reinstall of windows lol. It may be older but it should still run fine. I have been playing WoW on my 3 year old netbook just fine at 20+ FPS

Thanks, but Im on windows 7 now, and the problem is still there (was originally Vista) it seems like more of a hardware issue, but I dont know what to do about that, warranty is gone. The card is weak yea, but I use to be able to play WoW at 30-40fps on high ... the problem came around in small doses at first, while raiding one moinute I would have 40 fps, then 2 fps for a few minute, then back up ... then back down. But now, even Minecraft and some more demanding flash games tax it completely. weak card or not.... that cant be normal.

Try checking temperatures.

Also, bear in mind that most laptops have these battery saving modes to be disabled from BIOS or within Windows.

Since it's a laptop it could be overheating.
