ok everyone i want to upgrade my hard drive this is it right now

Momentus 7200.2 SATA 3.0Gb/s 200-GB

i have a asus G50V. and i want to go up to a 500GB hard drive anyone got some suggestions on what i should do. or what hard drive i should get thanks ahead of time.

I've had good luck with 2.5" Hitatchi and Western Digital drives - they're all more or less created equal. Just make sure you get a 7200rpm one. I'd also get an enclosure with it, as it'll make the process a lot simpler. Put the new drive in the enclosure, plug it into your laptop, and use some software to clone the drive (I used Acronis, which has a free trial that's plenty long enough to do one transfer). Then physically swap the drives and you're left with a 200GB external drive that you can use for whatever you want. Just make sure you get an enclosure that's solely powered by USB, as there's no point being saddled to an AC adapter on a 2.5" enclosure.

Very good advice. I would have said the same thing and I am a big fan of Acronis :)
