personally i would never buy a top of the line laptop because everyone knows computers become "dated" quickly, and if you are going to want a top of the line system your going to want to keep it updated with top of the line equipment, which can't be done with a laptop.

if and when i get a laptop i wouldn't spend more than like 1200, and it would be something that would last me a while, not just preform well.

*Prices are in US

If you are willing to wait for a good deal, you can get a pretty good one. I got mine from Dell, it's an Inspiron 1705 with pretty much all the bells and whistles, and I got it for about $1600 back in June. This was after 47% off. This discount was a combo from the 33% off special (which I have checked Dell's site for almost weekly without seeing it repeated, maybe it's just a summer thing) and the 12% discount I got from my college (I had to buy a 2 year warrenty, but I thought it was justified) So, I ended up with a $3,000 laptop for $1600 (If I try to buy the same laptop right now, it's more than $1600, which is pretty much unheard of).  So I would just wait for a good deal, maybe wait till DX10 cards and see if Dell has any good summer deals. Good Luck :)

Agreed. The Dell Inspiron E1705 with a 7900GS is your best bet in that pricerange.

It may be. I bought mine early August and it was cheaper than a similarly configured E1705 is now, for some reason.

Still a good laptop, though. I've been very happy with mine...especially the 1920x1200 screen. Still makes me drool.

That's going to be excellent for gaming as well.
