My shipment finally came, and now I am working on clearing out a good work space. Then going to dust and vacuum and make it all clean. Finally I will start putting together my computer tomorrow morning.

Just asking for any last words of advice, comments, criticism for me being a noob and worrying.

Basic specs since I am lazy to write them all.

EVGA 680I mobo

evga 8800gtx

x-fi xtreme gamer

2gb patriot 800 ram

uh huh, get a grounding strap. and be patient, If you hear beeps, just calm down and go over what steps you are missing, or go on google and find from your BIOS provider what the beeps mean..usually RAM, or CPU. Good Luck, man.

Hmm when I built my new pc like a month ago, I had a few drinks at the bar after work and then came home and built my pc. Thought it kinda made it easier, but wouldn't recommend it for obvious reasons.

Oh and to add on I did spend the 5 dollars for the anti static strap. I have done stuff like replace ram and read just about everything I could, including the case and mobo manuals. Also watched videos on how to build a computer so I have done a lot of homework.

Darn, i'm not legal to drink yet or I definitely would do that.

oh yes, because then you would have to explain in your warranty that your cat took a crap on your parts and it burned your parts into little broken pieces. =D

Just looked at my motherboard and I realized that it says Memory Standard: DDR2 1200. I think I only bought 800 speed ram. Does that mean it's not going to work right? Or just that it'll be a bit slower or something? I know it's still ddr2 800 but just I guess worried.

Be extra careful when plugging in the power supply to the motherboard because that's the first real chance you have to break a major component :P

Also, I just want to ask. I looked into the mobo manual and it says under "parts not included" that their is no microprocessor fan. Is that supposed to be considered the heatsink fan for the cpu or a seperate fan that I need to get. I am guessing that it was meant to be the cpu fan/heatsink just worded a bit differently. But since I am a noob I figured might as well ask and make sure.

Edit...

I got this ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220144 and I read reviews saying that it starts out at I guess 5-5-5-12 instead of the 4-4-4-12 that it states. I know theirs an nvidia tool that can make me change stuff once I eventually get the os and all the software on the computer easier than in bios for a noob like me. So should I just let the ram run however it wants for the bios and installing, then change it with that tool to the appropriate timings and voltage? Or should I do it right as I get in the bios if it's not that hard.

It's not that hard in the bios.. You just have to follow what the manual says.. and the CPU fan... Usually comes in the box with the CPU... I don't know why they even mentioned that it was "not included" the motherboard is not supposed to come with that anyway...
