I was looking at a front panel LCD temp sensor/fan controller unit to put in my tower, since i have 2 fans in my case not controller right now, and it would add some flair. Do they work, are they easy to install, and are they worth the money??

They're only worth it if you run high power fans that you want to turn down. If you've got something like Delta fans which are made purely for performance without any consideration for noise then it's pretty much nessacery though with fans of around 30db and below it's pointless as you won't get much of a gain and reduction in fan noise will just make the HDD noise more noticable. If you want to silence your PC a cheap solution is to use rubber washers on all screws which connect to devices with moving parts and to suspend your HDDs with bungee cord inside 5.25" bays.
