Hello folks! Im thinking of upgrading my CRT and Im faced with a conundrum. I use my PC for games and some graphic work and need a nice monitor capable of solid resolutions. I also want to *experience* HDTV and so Im thinking of biting the bullet to hook up one that will serve as a monitor and a tele in my room. And there lies my problem. After some scouting I potentially want to get a 26" Hitachi LCD TV, basic specs: 1366x768 HD resolution 500cd/m2 Brightness Picture in Picture 8ms The thing is will it be a solid monitor? 8ms seems a bit slow when some standalone monitors are capable of 4ms or less. Im not sure of the resolution either. Does it make a difference if it is HD resolution as opposed to standard resolution? Am I sacrificing gaming/graphical performance by looking for something that does both but not superbly in the computer side of things? I'd appreciate some input here, perhaps on what look for in getting HDTV or anything else. Cheers.
For LCD, Im looking at the Samsung SyncMaster 940mg which is an LCD TV but not High Def. It serves the purpose of the PC but just average for TV/Movies.
@ Kujectez: I know I'd enjoy HDTV but might be unimpressed with the PC side of things. Where do you feel the pull? After some research it appears the Samsung Syncmaster 940MW is capable of displaying HD signals... does that mean it will come out crisp as HDTV? I doubt. But I think I might go with a dedicated PC LCD to maximize performance and maybe some time later I'd get a separate HDTV (Hopefully when the prices get less atrocious). _______________________________________________________________________________ @ Gregoroth, what do you mean?
