but the Leadtek is a Silent Fan heatsink thing

i really dont know what to get

oh Leadtek is 195 and the Zotac is 220

would getting the Zotac be $50 dollars well spent??

8800GT SLI woops GTX 280 (i think cause the GTX 280 is slower than teh 9800GX2 and the 8800GT SLI is JUST under 9800GX2 performance)

but then again some games dont have SLI or have real bad optimisation,

but i htink im gonna go with the Zotac, its only 50 (well not only but it seems good cause its under warranty)
and im getting a new build end of next year so only needs to last me a year and helf or so

It's almost a year old!

Anyways, how much are the 8800GTs? You can buy 9800GX2s for under $300 these days, it might actually be cheaper to go with that.

I'm pretty sure the 8-pin is optional.

No its not because a 6pin can give 75w and a 8pin gives double that.

Let me rephrase.

I'm pretty sure just using 2 6-pins will do the trick. I remember back when the 2900XTs came out, when an 8-pin was required for Catalyst OCing, that people would install 2 6-pins and stick a paperclip/wire in the two unused pins and it worked fine. If you look at the 8-pin setup of the Silencer 750 you can see that the detatchable 2 pins (6+2 pin) are just a split from the two pins that are the furthest to the left.

It's not that they don't perform well, because they can still play any game at maxed out settings, it's just that right now, after all of the new cards have came out, it would be an unwise choice to go back and buy an 8800GT when you could get a card from the 4k series, a high end card from the 9k series or something 2xx GTX.

but the 8800GT SLI seems to give the best performance fo rmy dollar, the GTX 280 is also 1x6pin and 1x8pin

im getting a new rig (building one) nex year so this only has to last one year maybe one and half

the 4870 is aight but i can do crossfire later so no point really
and the 9800GTX+ just gets PWNed by the 8800GT SLI setup and i cant do SLI 9800GTX later cause i dont have enought 6pin power plugs

im going with 8800GT from Zotac, there 440 altogether

but im going to my local hardware shop tomorow and seeing how much it is there, if i can get other 8800GT for cheaper ill get that

May I ask: how long will a 8800GT last with an E8400 processor? To play the latest games at 1440x900 on high.

waht do you mean by max??

what i mean is, Highest Possible Settigns in game, 4x AA and 16x AF
but for Crysis i do same but no AA or AF

probs max most games for a year or two
two 8800GT will max games for longer

but everyone has a diff opinion on what MAXING a game is

8800 is a great card, youll be good for ATLEAST another year, my estimate is 2. people fail to realize is the 8800 is a great card!
But 1440X900 is a good resolution, but you can also pull 1680X1050 on a 8800 for a good while.

Correction... Was a great card.

Now we have new cards that is alot better, and the small diff in price make 8800GT quite expencive @ 220.

Yes the card will perform good for awhile ahead but at the price of 440 i'd get a HD4870 and about a year look at new series.
