You can use real money to buy more RP (Riot Points) and other boosts to get points higher. You cannot do ranked matches til you are level 30. I know a lot of people are really into it. My brother and his friends are and my girlfriend just got into it. So, it's really fun to play. But the game is all free if you wish to not spend money. You also get points as you win to buy characters that you can always use besides the selection free champions for the week.how was it? is it a free to play with microtransactions? or free to play up till a certain point and then you level no higher? i know its PVP but whats the premise pretty much?

LOL is pretty fun, it's like the other dota wannabees - fun for a while, or fun for a long while - depending on your taste.
The difference between lol and the other dota games, is that you play as a summoner, who gets experience and can level up and pick new skills, you got a "talent tree" and ofcourse you have the abilities of your avatar as well.
Another difference is, that unlike dota and hon/demigod, you do not have all characters from the get go - you only got some easy to handle characters, and will need to win some battles before you can unlock other characters for free.
Besides that, lol got some pretty crazy graphics, and it took me a while to get used to it.
i tried it and found it to be pretty boring. what i really didnt like is the controls werent as fluid for a dota game. also, i got this "generic" feel out of playing it. i quickly uninstalled a few hours into it. my friends who are addicted to it keep begging me to try it some more, but i almost have 200 games on steam currently that id gladly take over LoL. it's a pretty huge backlog of games that i wanna get around to, but even if i had gone and finished all of them, i think that i still wudnt try to pick up LoL again. it was quite a dissappointment
I'd just be careful about what attitude you bring to the game, because it can be pretty frustrating if you expect to play with competent teammates and quickly pick up the game and get lots of kills. It has a bit of a learning curve, and sometimes you'll be playing with people who are just flat out retarded.jmrwackoYup, community isn't too great in my opinion, but the game is fun. Also try finding friends to play with so you can team up with them.
