Valve didn't "steal" counter strike they bought it from the modders and now it is offically supported, and left 4 dead is a heavy co-op game not a 8v8 deathmatch

yes you can play singleplayer, the other 3 team mates are replaced with AI ones, that are very smart so ive heard.

Remember that in CS, you normally play against humans, so using bots changes the feel of the game a lot. In L4D, you're always playing against AI, even if you're with other players, so playing with bots won't affect how the game plays - it only affects the social aspect.
