Which one is the most fun and will last the longest?

I personally hate L4D. Waste of money. I'd say waste of time but I barely played it. I hate it that much (yes I gave it a chance).
Haven't played Warhead, but if it's anything like the original Crysis then I'd put my money there.

That's self-contradiction right there.

True dat!Get L4D if you have real life friends that play it/ if you have a mic. So many people I know have it and it's so much more fun when you're playing with people you know. You meet some pretty cool people playing with randoms but its most fun if you're on a server with a couple real friends and you all have headsets.

Which is not my case..
Crysis is fun imo but I picked up L4D a while back on a weekend deal and hated the single player and never really gave the mp a shot. I just really gave the mp a shot and it's the most fun that I've had with a multi-player game in a long time. L4D is really a great game.

True dat!No it isn't. I didn't play it as much as I would play something else [i.e. I barely played it], but I played it enought o give it a chance and what I did play of it was a waste of time.Go with Warhead there is no doubt about it. Better single player might be one of the best shooters of all time if u ask me, and then you get Crysis wars which is alot of fun. More fun the L4D if you ask me. The zombi thing is played out. L4D dosent have any good gameplay elements its a dry shooter only thing going for it is multiplayer but it will get old really fast. Crysis hands down.
Hard to say really, I mean L4D is for multiplayer purposes. I would say Crysis Warhead, because I'm not much of a multiplayer fan. But that's just me.
What kind of comparison is this? The only thing the two games have in common is that they are first-person shooters.
Left4Dead is an excellent multiplayer co-op game, albeit one that is slightly overpriced (IMO) and may not be supported by Valve much longer since they are working on L4D2 (all speculation on my part). If you have a good internet connection I highly recommend picking this up.
Crysis is a solid all around first-person shooter, but keep in mind this is primarily a single-player game. If you've got a rig that can handle it and you enjoy first-person shooters, I can't think of any rational reason for you not to buy the game.
Warhead. Don't buy the red-headed child of Valve.
Or at least wait for the sequel COUGH-expansion.

Man people these days are so mindless. You're telling him to wait and buy L4D2, which is completely contradicting your 'boycott l4d2' signature. My lord..

dont worry he will probably contradict himself again when lf4d2 comes out and he buys it.. alot like all the other boy-cottershmmm i would get warhead if your rig can run it or if you like crysis my favorite shooter of all time (until crysis 2 probably :P)
but if your pc isnt the best or you have friends that play l4d then i would go for that. (a mic is a must though so keep that in mind)
l4d is the most fun Ive had playing a shooter since ut 99. I just love it! You dont need a mic, but its nice having one because text chat is sometimes hard to pull off when you have 60 zombies nearby.
I'm playing Warhead now. It's alright and looks great, but it isn't as mindblowingly awesome as it was supposed to be.
If the reviews are correct, Warhead is only 5 hours long, and I got at least 100 hours out of Left4Dead, so I'd highly recommend L4D over Warhead.

Not to mention he called L4D2 an expansion. Which is just plain idiotic considering how much content is in it.[QUOTE="Jodan77"]

True, but I am trying to help him. Why buy the first game now?
I never said I was buying it, but that won't stop many from doing so.

Why he could still have alot of fun with L4D for another 5 months (probably alot longer). Do you really think that the community will immidiatly die? Do you honestly think that he will be playing Crysis Warhead or Wars in 5 months? I doubt that he will be playing that in one month after buying it.

Hmm...if Crysis Warhead is anything like the first game, than yes I think he might play Wahead for awhile. And Warhead is $30 (right?) so you have that.

Come on, be honest here. How many hours did you spend playing Crysis? How many hours did you spend playing L4D? Would L4D be worth the extra $10. Crysis Warhead is around 5 hours long and the multiplayer is subpar (been there done that) and the community is pretty small.
Also, you are angary about Valve not supporting a game which is a laugh, then reccomending Crysis. What ever happened to that patch 1.3 for Crysis that they promised? That never happened. Crysis Warhead has some blatant bug and there has only been one patch for that, I doubt that there will be a second. Then there is the install limits for Warhead. If there is one company that has given the finger to the pc gaming community it's Crytek.

An expansion doesn't have to be tiny for gods sake. Look at Star Craft: Brood War, it matched the amount of content both single/multiplayer-wise as the actual game itself, and look how bloody well it sold, and it was damn excellent to boot.
Anyways, Crysis for singleplayer definately. Left4Dead is an utter waste if you don't bother hooking up with friends to play it with, or don't mind playing a few rounds online with idiots until you build a friends list of reliable and smart partners. Valve shouldn't have put a single-player mode into the game at all, the AI just aren't fun to play with, especially when you're unable to issue commands to them like a real player. If you have a good group though, Left4Dead can be some of the most fun you've yet to have all year, especially when you got two competent teams in versus mode.

Well I personally don't agree with Time Played=Worth, or at least not for everygame.
I love the Legend of Zelda Games, but I probably only have like 20 hours logged into them.
I got tons of time logged into Left 4 Dead (figure around 100-150 hours), but it's a multiplayer game based on replayability. While that sound simpressive, I don't think it is. I got something like 750-1000 Hours logged into TF2 and that's a $20 (cheaper since I got in it the OB) game that's constantly being supported.
If I had to determine worth, I'd say for single player games it's how unique and engaging the experience is.
Multiplayer games is a tricky matter. It depends on the support of the developers and the community: everything Left 4 Dead seems to lack in comparison to other Valve Multiplayer games, and I think Left 4 Dead 2 is going to be the final nail in the coffin.
So yes, I think Warhead is the better choice.

Don't call Crysis Wars multiplayer sub-par. I spent 100 hours in the first Crysis, mostly in 4 runs in the single player campaign. I didn't like a lot his fisrt iteration in the multiplayer department. But with Warhead & Crysis Wars the things changed 180º. I played a single time the campaign in Warhead -is nice, not as good as Crysis but maybe more intense and action focused and with less freedom- , but I spent 150 hours in the multiplayer Crysis Wars.
If you play in Team Instant Action mode the game can be really fun, even the population is low. The game contains 23 official maps, but mostly of my over 70 maps are custom -Crysis Wars includes a auto-downloading, so you don't need to search new ones-. Last patch was in april (1.5), and it come with "Ruins" maybe the best official map to date.
Power Struggle mode Isn't as good. 1/2 of the maps are really big, which fits bad with low number of players, and the respawn points (bunkers) are always the same, which is a disavantadge compared to the flag points in BF2 (the flags can be in any place, sometimes in exposed areas, sometimes in a well covered positions). This is the reason because I like much more TIA mode: you can't be camped keeping out from a bunker with the same 2 doors; you simply fight focusing in skill, the use of the nanosuit powers and keep fighting.
Crysis Wars is not the best mp fps or the more popular, but is very good. I'll recomend you also Quake Wars, that is the more complex and best designed mp since BF2 IMO, but a lot of people didn't like it for some weird reason and they chose COD 4 (that is a good game but requires lower skills and with a lower learning curve that any of the mentioned fps).

You're right, an expansion doesn't need to be tiny, but your example still fails. Why? Brood War MATCHED the amount of content in the original game, and added a few new units. Left 4 Dead 2 has much more content than L4D had at launch. Hell, its giving more content than L4D has NOW. 5 Brand new campaigns (compared to the original's 4), a few new weapons (hasn't been announced how many, but we've seen at least 4 so far), a couple of new ammo types, a couple of new game modes, 4 new characters, a new AI director that can physically change some areas of certain levels and change the weather conditions and a few new Super-Zombie types. That right there, is a sequel. Please Log In to post.
