Let's talk about something fun, different, but still PC-related. :)

Just thought this would be an interesting and fun topic. :P

The question is: What was the first movie you EVER watched on a computer, when did you watch it, what file type was it and on what kind of computer did you watch it?

I watched Pulp Fiction on a Mac way back in late 1994, using an external CD drive and Quicktime.

Movie: Pulp Fiction

File type: QuickTime file on a CD-ROM. Resolution was extremely low (I believe 320x180, and full screen wasn't available).

PC Type: Mac Quadra with a 40MHz Motorolla 68040 processor, 16MB of RAM, 1GB hard drive, external CD drive, and running Mac OS 7.5.

I still remember how ******* excited I was, all cool and nerdy (?) watching a full movie on a computer. Man, how times have changed. I don't think IBM/PC users could even watch movies back then (except short 30 second clips).

Sure. Let's make it the first video (any moving picture except GIF or Flash) you've ever watched on a PC (since some of us may not be geeky enough to watch full movies on a PC). ;)

But list when you watched it, and on what kind of PC (and optionally, the file type of your first video/movie).

Oke doke.

I'd say the CNC Vids.

On a good old Gateway 2000 200Mhz machine. With a 4 meg ATI graphics card, it was so fast, that it was already done when you wanted it to start.

Bump (and I promise this is the one and only bump I'll make for this thread).

C'mon guys! PC veterans? Haven't any of you been geeks long enough that you watched a full movie on a computer before 1997? :) Share!

I can't believe how many of you have never seen a full movie on a PC before! Don't any of you use an HTPC setup connected to a projector or big screen TV?

Crap, I guess I was just getting my geeky hopes up when I thought we'd all have wonderful stories to share about watching our first digital full-length movies on VCD using a 486 or Quicktime on a Mac or something like that. :)

first was cnc vids on an old compaq. I remember I was so impressed when my pops got it for my brothers and me for christmas like 10 years ago. A *HUGE* 6.7 gig hard drive and *lightning fast* 800mhz processor!!!!

Besides that I'd say watched south park on my computer when my oldest bro showed bittorrent to me on our 1.5 ghz dell with a whole 512 mbs of ram and an integrated graphics card and a 40 gig hard drive.

Most recent : Hot Fuzz on my 2.4 ghz core2duo, 2 gig ram, 8800 gts 320mb, and 160 gig hard drive, and my fantastic 20 inch widescreen monitor.

P.S. that last setup was what I had been using until this may when I got this comp:lol:
