Where did you get that idea? Hamachi is MEANT for networking computers together on a virtual LAN.

Exactly. It actually isn't used as an "illegal filesharing Peer to Peer program". Do research before posting.

It IS a file sharing program, by saying a "virtual LAN" it is YOU who need to do research, it is NOT a way to play LAN games together,  it is in fact a VPN, that is strictly created for filesharing, look it up.

All Hamachi does is allow people outside your router ( the WAN ) to get files off your computer  in the same way "My Network Places" works.  how is that not file sharing?!?!?

If you read on Hamachi's website, you will see that it is designed for LAN games too. And I doubt he wants to get illegal pirated software, he probably wants to use it for games.

Lawl, there's nothing worse than an immature troll who has absolutely no idea what he's talking about.

Hamachi is used for virtual "tunneled" networking. It was NOT created for "teh illegalz P2P file sharing," like you idiotically claim in your first post. It was created for running and managing virtualized private networks. Such networks are useful for many things, from file transfers to resource sharing (printers, scanners, fax machines) to tunneled "LAN" gaming.

Exactly. Peer to peer means you can connect to anyone by doing a search. VPN is a "virtual private network." Only the people ON that network can connect to each other. Only by knowing the network address and with permission from the network host can you even "join or connect" to the virtual network. Just like only the x amount of computers on your home network that are connected to the HUB or Router can connect to each other. You can't just do a search and join "anyone's" home network. If Hamachi were illegal, companys like KODAK would NOT be advertising that they use and like Hamachi. This particular subject shows how trolls TRULY advertise their ignorance of the facts and their desire to just be idiots.

Sorry man, no offense but the whole reason I got Hamachi was because of it's very nature. It's a VPN, (virtual PRIVATE network). I wanted a PRIVATE network to play games with my buddys on securely. Giving access to strangers to your VPN is not a "great" idea if you ask me, not if your concerned about privacy and security. Seeing as I have windows services allowed for network stuff with my bro, I'm not letting anyone in.

Why can't you join someone's server on Xfire or Gamespy or in the game browser itself? Again, no offense but I'm a little suspicious. The only reason one needs Hamachi for "most" games is if you want to host and play a game from the same computer because you don't have a second comp for running a dedicated server.

LOL at the Hamatchi being an "illegal peer to peer".  Anyways, Hamatchi is a great way to set up LAN games...I love it.

So far I play

Company of Heroes

C&C Generals

Supreme Commander

Battlefield 2

*Soon to play C&C 3!
