In 2017 with a modern gaming PC setup and fast broadband connection, it should not take goddamned 10+ minutes to install a graphics driver ffs. It makes me want to throw my keyboard through the window. I'm starting to hate driver updates.

Download via Experience averages 300 KB/s on my fast cable connection (get same speed downloading directly from Nvidia site) and then the actual install takes forever (and I'm installing only the driver and PhysX updates).

Anyone else "Experience" this?

@attirex: I don't have that problem at all. It always downloads in seconds for me through NV Experience. It installs super fast too. Sounds like an issue on your end, not Nvidia's.

Grrrrr. The download speed is the biggest problem. It can't be an issue with broadband as browser speed tests usually show 240MB/s down. As for slow-ish installation, I have no idea what could be causing it. I'm running Win 10 with 8GB RAM, and have about 70GB free space on my SSD C: drive.

Wait what? Never had an issue. Are you downloading manually or through GE. Don't use that shit.

I have no issue at all downloading drivers through NVE... Usually downloads in 10-20 seconds(300Mb/s Fibre) and installs in about 1 minute on my SSD. I have never had issues with drivers with Nvidia or AMD over the last 5 years.

Downloading is ok for me, but installing is a fucking pain, takes forever.

I always do a clean install though, uninstall takes 30 seconds, but installing takes 8:22 (yes I timed it, I just go do something else).

Yeah I think something may have gone wrong on your side.

I've downloaded NVIDIA drivers both through GeForce Experience and also manually through the website and it only takes a few seconds on my fibre connnection (a few minutes on a good ADSL connection).

@attirex: Just did it through GE and it downloaded in around 15 seconds. You certainly have a problem on your end.

I can confirm with 100 percent certainty that's there's an 80% chance it's on your end. I use GFE and it takes...a couple minutes, including the download. 60mbps cable/4790k/1080 ti.

GE is trash, just download it manually.

Nevermind the fact that GE's "recommended" settings for most games are cringe worthy.

Not only does it take long. It is upsetting I have to a login to install updates. With all the stuff we have logins and passwords we have to remember the last thing I want to do is remember my Nvidia credentials. I miss the good old days go to a website and download the new drivers.

@gcfreak898: Huh? Since when do you need to log in to install drivers? Just go to their website and select the driver you want to download.

Yes. Because those are ten or fifteen minutes that I'm not shooting bad guys. And believe you me, when you have a wife, seven year old twins, house, mortgage, and full time job.... any free minute you can get for gaming is like holding a rare jewel.

No problems with GE's driver updates at this time and I don't download/install drivers during my gaming sessions.

Download the drivers through the website and install yourself. Will go faster. Also NVIDIA driver updates really help your pc stay capable of playing games for much longer. I built my PC about 8 years ago, and I still max most games

@aki2017: LOL, I have a rig I built from about 8 years ago sitting next to me with a Radeon HD 5870 and 4gb DDR2 ram, Phenom II 965 BE. Doubt I'll be maxing out any new games on it.

How is that a nightmare? Your internet is bloody slow if your downloading at 300kb/s, and 10 minutes isn't bad for something you shouldn't be installing very often anyway.

The optimal settings are garbage too. In some games it sets it to lowest setting but auto uses 4kDSR resolution. That's just stupid.

I don't know why I'm using it....masochism? And I use it only for driver installs, so.....guess I'll start using Nvidia site instead. Also changed Exp preferences to download new drivers in the background.

Is there a reason you're downloading new drivers? You need updated drivers for a new game or are you just downloading to be downloading them because GE tells you to?

I'm rocking 378.49 without issues which I downloaded and installed back on 1/31/17.

No specific reason, other than I'm a completionist and figure it can't hurt to have whatever under-the-hood improvements updated drivers bring (currently have two 970s). And also because I'm an Old Guy and have had "UPDATE YOUR DRIVERS" pounded into my brain for years. :-)

It can actually hurt because having the latest drivers sometimes brings problems as well since they are just released and not as tested (and fixed) as older drivers.

Only reason why I use GeForce experience is for shadow play. Its best recording software I've seen. It can even record your desktop too.

+1

I ran SLI setups for many years (7600GT, 8800 GTS 640MB, 8800 GTS 512MB, GTX 280, GTX 570 and even ran GTX 980Ti in SLI for about a year) and new driver releases are better (in my experience) at breaking things for SLI setups over a single card configuration. Also, not all drivers will function properly with all hardware configurations.

I learned that if the driver I'm using provides good performance in games and it isn't causing any issues, then stick with it. Only and ONLY if a brand new game comes out that requires new drivers for SLI support, then I upgrade to that driver.

Last time I actually upgraded a driver outside of swapping hardware or an OS re-install, was when Nvidia released their SLI driver for No Man's Sky.

Video drivers, I have a general rule to go by: if it isn't broke, don't fix it. In other words, if things are working fine, don't upgrade.

Hm. Not updating drivers regularly is a completely different mindset from how I was raised (Sweaty Ballmer: DRIVERS....DRIVERS....DRIVERS....DRIVERS), but I suppose you guys are right: if it ain't broke, don't update it.

I really wouldn't follow advice from someone like Ballmer lol....
