What can people tell me about this game , is it good, also is it obligated to pay to play beacuse I heard the game has some free servers but that if you pay you get more stuff etc.
This game is really good. Its a reptitive grind fest game but very rewarding. Its not an easy game like wow or lord of rings online. Its mmorpg pay to play. This game is the best art style update in my point of view. The game has alot features that most mmorpgs still dont have. Its an mmorpg very hard to describe really have to play it in my opinion. I only played this game on private server not on retial so I cant speak of the retail exp. If you are serious mmorpg guy and need a really intense combat game I think you can try it. Also its spelled Lineage 2. Youtube the agme if you want to the gameplay or go to www.lineage2.com. But you should look for this game instead AION ! www.aiononline.com its lineage 2 and more its coming out sometime this year. Its probably going to be the best mmorpg I think.
Yes, the game is good. I was a GM on one of the known private servers called "l2x" aka "Lineage 2 Extreme" and I quitted like a week before the FBI shut it down. :)
It's a fun game... Way more fun then this stupid WoW game. It actually has an amazing pvp system. After L2, I couldn't find any MMORPG that can top that game. Seriously
As for the free 2 play... only on private servers. It's not exactly legal, so I can't really direct you to one.
I played P2P since the beginning til' the end of 04, and had started my character on the public beta.
It was an amazing experience, being a great MMORPG. I was addicted yes, but it was amazing for the half year I played it. There was actual beef between clans, and unlike WoW, a huge pvp fest went down if someone flagged or vise versa, you can kill anyone at any time besides in-towns - but be expected to pay the price if they don't hit you back at least once. I remember one instance where this guy kept hitting me and stealing mobs from my group, so I called my whole entire clan over, and he did his. It was fun as hell destroying eachother and getting the satisfactory of winning in the end..
Given that, I grew with the game, and now if I ever played it on a PS which I have, it stunk. The experience was gone, and I found myself not dedicating any time into it. Every pvp character was an assassin or archer, or spell howler. The rest were useless on private servers.
Given all this, I would say it was an incredible game, but now, especially on private servers, not the game to play.
I would P2P it if I was you, much better experience.
Okay ^^ gonna comment on your post about p2p being better then retail . Its odd but its not even close to being as good as private server. p2p leveling is so slow the game becomes repetitive really too much for people just the same stuff over and over. With private server you level faster so do things faster get to do things faster less reptitive that way. New armor faster. Also on retail many botter which ruins the whole exp. On private server no botter and depending on what private server you got 70% what retial with no price. But if your a good person want to tough it out play retial much more rewarding and more ethical. :P
You haven't played on retail to judge that factor.
Everything you read about P2P might seem like oh yeah, it's an annoyance. But it's really not. Take these points into consideration:
If you level faster (private), that's all anyone does. They level, level, level, and level. Try to get the best stuff you can in the server, and not focus on the gameplay. In P2P it does take extrutiatingly long to level, that being said, the noobs are outcasted and are rare among the higher levels. You get more mature players and also, the biggest factor: you actually play the game. Leveling takes so long in the game that you actually go and do other stuff. Explore, pvp, enjoy the actual gameplay rather than just fighting a mob all the time.
Also, grinding all that time can be very fun as you need groups, you can socialize with them and have a good time making all that money (quite a bit at level 30-39 while with a group). It's also not THAT long. Takes about 2-3 weeks to get to level 40 if you play on a daily basis. The whole experience of P2P was much more amazing in everyway. You would get use to your armor sets and characters, and when you upgraded, you appreciated it and felt like you accomplished something. In privates, you upgrade so fast that it loses it's significance and thus making it not near as fun.
Again, one of the biggest factors is you actually go out and have fun in the game rather than leveling all the time since it takes a while to level. The noobs are rare among the high levels, and it's nice not having a new player ding max within a couple days (usually most privates are like that).
Great mmo really. Korean grind fest for sure, but the best one of it's kind. P2P is really the only way to go. My experience is that private servers are pretty horrible for just about any MMO.
