I'v been thinking of getting a router for 2 computers and a 360 recently. My connection is Comcast 6 megs. My friend has one of these LINKSYS BEFSR41. The problem is that a lot of reviews say that when there is more than light browsing the router locks up and the only way to reset it is to unplug it, with 6 megs a second I think that that would be a huge problem. BTW my friend has a much slower connection than me. I want to be able to take advantage of the speed. Anyone have any advice on this router or a different one that is good from around the same price?

I've got a BEFSX41 and I really like it. What sets this one apart is that it got a hardwired firewall built in. I don't trust software firewalls.
EDIT: I have Comcast and according to speedmeter I'm moving at 10MBPS.  No slowup at all

D-link's alright, but I've had problems with how many connections you have hooked up to them. We had a wireless router with 4 Ethrenet ports and when we eventually ended up having about 9 things trying to connect with it, but it seems the router only liked 6. Since 5 were wired (had a switch), 4 of our wireless devices were fighting for the last connection. :P After talking to some tech guys (who suggested LinkSys), we bought one and have had no problems since. Although, it doesn't sound like you have 9 things you are trying to hook up, so D-Links might be an option too. :P I liked D-Link routers until we had that problem. Just thought I would pass that along. :)

Leave D-Link alone. I had one and it fried on me. Ive had a Linksys for a long time now, and its been nothing but good to me. Im at work, so i cant give you the model, but i support the Lynksys.

i got a linksys router it's pretty good. d-link is good too, i prefer d-link over linksys though.

EDIT: oh yeah, when you get a router try putting it up vertical and have something hold it up because if you leave it down flat, it'll be very very hot in the bottom.
