In no particular order and with the corresponding games that make them memorable for me:

  • Bullfrog (Populous, Syndicate, Dungeon Keeper)
  • Lionhead (Black and White)
  • Fever Pitch (Conquest: Frontier Wars)
  • Relic (Homeworld series)
  • Blizzard (Warcraft, Starcraft)

I could put Westwood, Ensemble and Blizzard in those empty spots... but that would be like saying 1. Angelina Jolie, 2. Jessica Alba, 3. my right hand, 4. my left hand, 5. both hands together.

They just don't belong in the same category.

Relic are my number one RTS developer. Ever since Homeworld, I've loved those guys.
So,
1. Relic
2. Westwood (R.I.P :()
3. Blizzard
4. Massive
5. Petroglyph or Creative Assembly

Oh, and it's good to see someone else has played Conquest: Frontier Wars Ein-7919. I love that game, and I still play it. Great fun!

1. Chris Taylor (Cavedog & GPG) - probably not really the best, but certainly the only guy who makes the kind of RTSs I like to play. 2. Relic - They make fun, cinematic RTSs. 3. Westwood (RIP) 4. Ensemble 5. (Nothing at the moment) I've already expressed many times my disagreements with Blizzard's style of RTS. I'm still trying to learn the complexities of Creative Assembly's games. I can't judge on Petroglyph or Massive Entertainment yet as I still haven't purchased my copies of Universe at War or World in Conflict. Ironclad could replace Relic at No. 2 if Sins of a Solar Empire turns out as good as I hoped.

They made:

Boiling Point: Road to Hell

Far Cry and Crysis

HL:1

These games are played in REAL TIME and they require STRATEGY (on hard), so I include them here for your enjoyment.

EA for command and conquer seriesk_ozz

EA are the publishers of the games but Westwood are the developer of the ****c C&C games. Westwood was bought up by EA and assimilated into EA LA so it no longer exits (thanks a lot EA). So if you're talking about the ****c C&C games (which are the best) then EA is not your developer.

Edit: I don't why the word is starred out it supposed to say c l a s s i c . Maybe it's the three letters in the middle which are the problem. Gamespot need a better censoring programme.
