Ok, so the recent Fallout 3 game is a "live for windows" game, even though it has no multiplayer.

So what i dont understand is why other games, like Bioshock, arent also live for windows.

I mean, if a game doesnt need multiplayer to be a windows live game, and acheivments are technically required, why arent there more Live for windows single player PC games like Fallout 3?

Simply because PC is an open platform and it's completely up to the developer to decide which online system it wants to support, if any.

yeah but in the case of the games i'm citing, they already have acheivments designed for the Xbox version, and there is no multiplayer. It seems rather inherent to just make it a windows for live game to add in the xbox version achievments (although the coupel other games there have been have added some different ones as well).

because alot of PC gamers don't like the live system and would rather stay without it even if you have to sarcifise achievements

I think the reason for this would be money, I'm sure the publishers would pay a fee for a game to be linked with LIVE, also probably have to go through a QA process, now if it's mutliplatform the QA would probably be cheaper. But I still think it's money, but granted I don't know for certain.

Games don't need achievements, if they have some, ok, it's a bonus, you get some checkpoints that show your progress and they probably make you happy. I seriously don't get this obsession, you play the game for fun, and achievements can do the exact opposite.

They can, but they can greatly increase your fun as well. They can give games a lot of replayability that otherwise wouldn't have any.
