I just moved my connection to the interent to a Local Area Connection and it's been fine except for a problem which has arisen with my anit-virus programmes. I use Mcafee Security Center and Spyware Doctor on my WinXP PC and both cannot download their updates anymore.

I don't know whats happening with them except that it started as soon as i connected to my Local Area Connection. Both programmes run fine but when it comes to downloading routine updates they say that the download has failed. I tried reinstalling them but it had no effect.

If anyone can offer any kind of solution i'd be very grateful.

If your at a college or uni you need to open up some ports - speak to the tech support you may have there they can tell you what you need to open to get your updates :)
