You don't have to. But it's better to finished TLJ first.

You don't have too but you'll get a better experiance out of Dreamfall if you know what happened prior to it.

I'd recommend playing them in order, although only about a third of Dreamfall's plot is devoted to the character from the first game.

Buy the pack on Steam that has both of the games together, if you can't find TLJ easily.

IMHO the second game can't be much fun if you haven't played the first game, as the only fun I had with the second game was whenever they referred back to the first game

I simply don't have time to play through the original, is there a primer someone can suggest? Like a story summary, if not...I'll just check wikipedia unless someone had a better suggestion.
