Very new to this.... so bare with me.

But Ive been looking for an affordable tower to start me off with, that I plan to upgrade next year...

I found one with an AMD-FX-6100 6-core processor (3.3 GHz)

and a graphics card: AMD Radeon HD6450 1 GB

my questions are:

1. Does this graphics card come with a HDMI port? I do not see HDMI anywhere in the specifications of the comp.

2. With the AMD processor, am I tied down to AMD Radeon graphics cards or can I also look at Nvidia cards?

3. When I do get an upgrade to the graphics card, can I swap out the old bay... or will I need to take one of the 3 expansion bays up??

Thanks, I apologize if I am lacking any critical info to help answer these questions.... all opinions are welcome... even if this is all trash and I should keep on looking, let me know! (And I vow to never mispell the word graphics again!)

If you are going to do some gaming, the 6450 is not meant for that. How much are you willing to spend on graphic cards? Because you can get this 6870http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161389instead

Thanks.. good price too....

Im willing to spend $300-400 next year on a new card. Its just the whole tower Im looking at is on sale for $599, and it includes the 6450 card.

Im not sure I am going to attempt buying individual parts and build the tower myself... the one Im looking at seemed like it could hold me over for a year without running top of the line games. I was however planning on playing Diablo 3 on the 6450.

If you do play games like Diablo 3, it won't run well not even to mid-range settings with a 6450. Could you also provide the link of the tower you are buying?

The GPU inside of his AMD FX chip would play Diablo III just fine. It would do a better job than the 6450.

Edit: I may be thinking of the wrong cpu.

There's no chance in hell you'll stick to a 6450 for a whole year. If you'll be playing games on a 1080p monitor then I give it a month.

this is the obne time im going to agree. tc go find a prebuilt with an amd a8-3870k in it. the IGP can run diablo more than adequately. and then go grab an hd 6670 for cheap. run hybrid cfx. and your now set to play every next-gen console port XD

I came across this prebuilt on Newegg a few days ago, and I thought you might be interested in it. It's got a lower-end processor, but a stronger video card to make up for it. I have no experience with Diablo 3 unfortunately, but from what I've heard from others, I'm guessing that the 6670 it houses should be able to handle it pretty well.

A few minutes of searching also came up with this. It's about $100 over your budget, but is quite a bit faster than the 6470 and 6670 equipped systems.

I have gaming rig set up with the AMD fx6100 and a gtx580 ( with a gtx 560ti being used for physx ) and it runs like a dream. Super smooth and quiet. It seems to compare very favorably to my other gaming rig which is I7 920 CPU with a gtx 680 graphics card.

the ibuypower computer that has an fx 4100 plus a 6670 seems decent for a budget build. only problem is it makes it hard to recommend the crappy bulldozer cpus when they are beaten by their own predecessors, the amd phenom II 955.

thanks for all the replies here...

I am thinking of scrapping the AMD FX-6100 bulldozer, and these links are really nice.

Doing a lil research, I want something with a larger power supply than the 450W that came with the pre-build I was looking at, and maybe a better processor.... and one of the links here have directed me to a nicer vid for about $150... again I intend to replace this down the road

these both look really nice, the $699 seems to have the same processor as the original one I was looking at, but a larger power supply and much better card.... so is the FX-6100 bulldozer any good? someone here already says that it is hard to recommend

Well, for the price, it can't be beat; I can't find a prebuilt with a Phenom II quad or hexacore stuffed into it, and Intel's quadcore lineup is pretty far out of your budget. And with the video card it's being paired with, I don't think it'll be the limiting factor in those systems.

thanks for the quick reply, so if I do move forward with the FX-6100 in this system... do you think it will become a bottleneck if I go to upgrade with a beefy vid card, say next year??

i would reccomend going sandy bridge for your cpu/mobo.

in a couple of years those amd chips will be out of date so to upgrade youll probably want a new mobo too. with sandy bridge their best cpu's now are alot better than amd's, so in a couple of years you could pick one of those up and keep the motherboard for another couple of years. for example if you get an i3 now you could afford a better graphics card perhaps, and then in a year sell your chip and just put a new 2500k in this will probably cost you a net of ~$75. then the 2500k would last another year or two comfortably. this would be much more balanced for now and probably save you money in the long run.

as for graphics, no, you dont have to keep your old card in there, keeping up a slot. you just take the old out and put the new in.

well that is an interesting idea I never thought of... go with a top line motherboard, and vid card... and upgrade the CPU next year instead.... however I think it will be difficult to find a prebuild like this

Doing somthing similar to this atm, I've just bought a Z77 board and a sandybridge chip which will allow me to go Ivybridge eventually (if it turns out it's worth it).
