Maybe so, I goofed around with it. Seems fine and all, but anything seems faster than my P4 with a 7600gt AGP :)

The only bad thing about that computer is the lower end graphic cards (lower end, compared to what is available today). However, with running two of them in SLI, you should get adequate performance out of most games out there today. You shouldn't have too much troubles playing at a good 1440x900 resolution or maybe even do ok with most games on a 1680x1050 resolution. I'd say that it's a pretty darn good deal. Just make sure you get the OEM copy of Vista 64 that is installed on that computer, he cannot keep that OS with his computer if he plans on building another one because two of you cannot have the same license key for an OS. If that PC is coming with Vista 64 installed on it, you best be sure you get the copy of the CD. I'd also ask for any manuals, driver disks (especially the one for the motherboard) and/or the original boxes for the items that are in that computer. You want to make sure you get everything important that goes with it. If you have to reformat that hard drive and do a re-install of Vista 64, you need the OEM disk. You'll also need the driver disk (CD) for your MB so you can install drivers for the items on the MB: drivers for the ethernet, audio and such are needed.

The vid cards will not work well with games like crysis, but it will hold up fairly well. I had the 8800gts 640SLI, and that was the most recent thing to get swapped out. At that price though, it is a very good deal. It would sell for a lot more as parts on ebay if all else failed.

For $400 dollars, that's a great deal. One of those 8800GTS will max out most games out their, in fact they were the recommended graphics cards for Crysis when it first came out. Just make sure he isn't screwing you with some malfunctioning components or like a previous poster said, a virus.

That is decent price for that, considering if he made it two years ago he paid more than 1,000. But if i were you i would sell one 8800gts and buy a nvidia 260 considering they are almost less than 200$. Then run the 8800 as a ageia card if you want to. Also upgrade the cpu and you should have a decent computer for under 800 with the upgrades. If i were you i would get that in a hurry.

These are OLD 8800gts (G80), and the ones with half the memory of the standard version (640). The G92 8800gts 512MB were a much better cards.

While they are good cards, they CANNOT RUN CRYSIS AT ANY DECENT FPS with settings cranked up. I had most of it set to medium, 720P resolution, and I would still get angry at the slow downs. Since I went to a GTX295, I cannot be happier. I understand the two are really incomparable, but it helps see the difference in what that game can do.

I'd sell the video cards and get a newer one, then it would be fine.
