looking for a fps pc game

hi, im new to pc fps games.  im going to describe the game i want to play, and if any1 knows of a game like this please give suggestions.

I want a fps that is primarily good for multiplayer.

the main thing i want (although not sure it exists) is a fps that runs like guild wars pvp.  In which before a match, you can change your character stats (speed, accuracy, ect)  to depend on what you are playing ( sniper, support, ect.).  and you can also change your equipment before the game (armor, guns, granades, ect).  in other words i'd like a game in which there is team strategy in a fps, where you dont have the exact setup as the guy your fighting.  in other words, no generic fps games...

i'd like it to be a game where you build the tanks/ships/jeeps you drive, not just start out with them so it takes strategy to decide what to build.  of corse some1 on the team will be desgnated builder but he can fight also.  If any1 has every played battlezone II multiplayer, kind of like that

i want it to have a good sized community

graphics must be good, although not spectacular.

preferably a game without lasers/death beams/ ect. make it somewhat realistic.  i like the older ww2 games but im not sure what new ones are out for pc, or if they have what i want.

if you know of a game thats recently came out or will come out within the next Q1 2007, please let me know.  if you have any suggestions on fps that takes skill more than anything let me know.

Return to castle wolfenstein was good... but I don't know if you could still find people playing online. Others you can try Day of Defeat source... Hope this helps ;)

I would have said the dice/EA games battlefield 19xx/2-xx series.

Along similar lines could be joint operations (plus its expansions).

I think for the future Shadowrun (PC) is attempting to recreate something similar to what u describe.

Red Orchestra is good, Battlefield 2 is good also, it also has a upcoming WW2 mod called Forgotten Hope 2.
