How is that similar to Day of Defeat? It's first person shooter and it uses the same engine. That's pretty much it. ''Too cartoony'' is a bad excuse by the way. The art style is fantastic.
when you say modern day, do you mean the release date of the game, or the era it is based in?
either way, the battlefield series are all awesome, same style control point capture, only with a lot more to offer. medal of honor is awesome. Call of Duty.
CS:S isnt anything like dod:s. day of defeat owns it :)
call of duty 2 would probably be the closest thing to it i'd say.

Class based, short respawn time, etc.
By modern I thought he meant release date-wise. TF2 could probably considered modern day.
