Just something to tide me over til D3 launches. Got a friend who recently just got back from his military adventures in Africa and he and I are both stumped on what games we could be playing. We prefer RPG and strategy titles but are open to anything with an addicting co-op.

We've both given up on the World...of Warcraft. Played it for years, but it got stale. A different MMO would be fine; the couple I've done free trials of (Rift, DCUO) were decent, but didn't seem different enough to hold my interest for long.

Tried D2 but with D3 on the horizon none of my friends or I can stay interested.

Considering talking him into SC2 for some of the custom maps - a few good tower defense games might keep us entertained for a while (used to stay up all night doing them on WC3).

Also, I'm trying to save a bit of money to upgrade my computer soon, so anything at a budget price gets bonus points.

Any suggestions?

- Total War Shogun2 - Fantastic coop, you can both do battles at the same time, epic if you have a friend to play with (you can save it and come back to it

later). Most fun ive had in a coop game in years

- Anno 2070 - has coop also like shogun2

- Magika or Neverwinter Nights2 comes to mind for coop rpgs.

- Dungeon Defenders - This is fun with a few friends, you mentioned tower defense, so thought I would mention this.

If you want a mmo try Star Wars The Old Republic

Left 4 Dead 2 has the best co-op in any game. It requires proper communication and timing. Same with Portal 2.

Borderlands is a good co-op experience it's sort of set up like diablo except it's first person and with guns.

everytime you mention Red Alert 3 I feel like I should give it a shot. But everything else after generals has been a massive failure.

Left 4 Dead Magicka to an extent, though short. Saints Row 2/3 Killing Floor

Never understood why so many people liked Borderlands. It's honestly just so repeated in terms of design I find myself looking for stuff outside of the game to do just to find some sort of entertainment. It's great on paper, and can work if there was variety, but the execution negates this quite clearly.

its not like the previous command & conquers.. if you come with that mindset you will leave unhappy. if you come expecting a fun rts that doesnt take it self seriously then you probably will have good times. the new army however is horribly weaksauce. they have lousy anti-air and their armor is mediocre at best. their only redeeming qualities are that they are incredibly mobile and lightweight and have amazing sea weapons at their disposal
