I've finally gotten fed up with the squishy key presses on the keyboard I'm currently using. I'd like a keyboard (or command pad, as the problem is really only with games) that has very good response on the keys, basically meaning that they're either up or down with a pretty light touch. I tried out the ****** Nostromo N52te at Best Buy and I really liked the keys on it. However, after reading some reviews I've learned that the button which replaces the spacebar has a rather long throw with a good deal of resistance, and don't really want something that's gimped like that. So, any suggestions are welcome, so long as they're under about $75. P.S. I just bought the Saitek "Cyborg Command Unit" and I can easily say that I hate it. Half the buttons are difficult to reach and all of them have pretty bad response.

The Logitech G15 or Logitech G11 are very good keyboards, as well as the Razer Lycosa. I'm actually trying to decide between the G11 and the Lycosa myself - does anyone have one of these boards and care to share their opinions?

The Nostromo n52te I found to be quite a decent bit of kit - but I'm not the hardest of the hardcore gamers, so it might be worthwhile getting some more opinions on it.

Hmmmm...

A good gaming keyboard, aye'? That could be basically any keyboard, it usually all depends on the user. I considered myself a hardcore gamer for years and my Microsoft Multimedia keyboard never let me down. Once it got dirty and old I replaced it with a $20 HP Multimedia keyboard from Wal-Mart and it works just as well. Sleek, black look and smooth responsive keys. Don't fall for the glam of the Logitech keyboards with the fancy screens on them, haha, save yourself some money.

I'm trying to decide between those three keyboards. Normally I would go for the G15 over the G11, because it is the newer model, but the backlight is red and I prefer the blue of the G11 and Lycosa.

I use an old IBM Model M keyboard I swiped from eBay for just about everything involving my PC, gaming included. No macro keys, LCDs, or anything fancy, but nothing beats that buckling-spring keyboard feel for me. It'll also probably be usable for as long as PCs have PS/2 ports or USB ports that can accept PS/2 adapters-these things are durable! However, you seem to prefer short-travel keys, like those on a laptop. The Model M's keys have quite a bit of throw, though some of that throw is over-travel after the switch is actuated. I don't know if you'll like the resistance much, either-you might find it a bit stiff initially as you hit each key to trigger a keystroke, but after the spring buckles and the signal is sent, the resistance lowers noticeably-just enough to confirm by feel that you've actually flipped the switch. I can't really describe it-a Model M or any other mechanical keyswitch board can only be truly explained through actually pressing one of the keys. The Logitech G-series boards feel like typical rubber dome boards. Fairly long travel, with actuation at the very end. I haven't used any Razer board (brick-and-mortar stores here don't have anything Razer on display), but they're supposedly more laptop-style, with a short throw. Perhaps the Lycosa is what you're looking for.

i owned both g15 and the lycosa. i prefer the g15 cuz the orange backlighting is much better on the eyes than the blue backlighting of the lycosa. plus i like the lcd of the g15. it shows the performance (cpu usage, ram usage), time/date, rivatuner.
