well you said good and $300 its kinda an oxymoron. I say if you can find a 32'' for $300 go for it, at that price range every brand is about on the same level.

If $300 is your budget your looking for affordability not quality. Find a reputable brand (on sale) an acceptable size and theres not much more to say. Your budget is a handicap. If you have to ask about the brand I wouldn't suggest it. 42" 720p Panasonic or Samsung Plasma runs less then $550 and looks to be one of the best bang for your buck deals out right now... But thats what I'd do.

Not all panasonic or samsung runs for less than 500 dollars. LCDs are way better for gaming, they have been updated vastly on the last years and those cheap priced plasmas with giant screens are in the most cases older models and aren't the best quality ones. Great 26 inches tvs can cost you from $400 to $500 easily. It all depends on what you are getting. Most 26 to 32 inches LCDs priced at $250 to $300 are just crap with the cheapest image colors when compared to the other brands. THAT'S ONE OF THE THINGS I HATE FROM THESE TVS.

Good price but that's online price and from amazon. When you go to the stores they cost more. OP i recommend you call the store to check prices before going with the online price in mind when visiting the store.

I've got a 32" Dynex (720p, 60Hz) that has been pretty flawless so far. $330 in-store at Best Buy a few months ago.

Wow. That seems like a good bargain. It is going to be hard to buy a LCD that is 1080p under 300, unless it is quite small. There are some good LCDs, by reputable brands, that are in the 300 range, but are 720p. I have a 32in Samsung, that is only 720p, but it has a crisp picture, granted I don't use that one for gaming. I mainly use that to watch tv in my room, but it does look good off of the HD cable.

at that budget, I'd look for a name brand refurb online. Not a great idea to go with offbrands when purchasing a TV imo. the quality of the picture is usually not nearly as good as a brand like samsung or panasonic. I got a 23" refurb samsung LCD for $200 for our spare room about a year ago and it works great. the speakers suck, but thats to be expected on a 22".
