Hi guys, I am in need of some new headphones I have some old sennheiser phones I use at home, but they are cheap and looking for headphones with (high)quality also for outdoor usage, my budget lies at the max of $150. I have no real preferance what brand really. Preferable headphones that shelter your entire ear and that are comfortable ofcourse. I prefer headphones over earphones or in-ear phones because earphones rather irritating than comfortable in my opinion. Thanks alot :)

For home use, I would reccomend Grado. They may not be the most comfortable, but they have EXCELLENT, very energetic and exciting sound. Check out Grado SR125. You can also take a look at Akg K240, Sennheiser HD555/595

The Grado SR125i, Sennheiser HD555, and AKG K240 are all excellent suggestions, but they're at the top of your budget range. Consider also:

  • Audio-Technica ATH-M50S - $120
  • JVC HARX900 (very good for the price) - $63
  • Sennheiser HD 202 - $40 - I use these personally on a daily basis - they're cheap and sound great - but not the most comfortable things I've ever worn since my head is the size of a small planet.

I've also heard some good things about the new Kicker 09HP541 headphones ($65), though my only experience with them has been in the car audio circuit, in which they are well known for high-quality audio equipment.

In all honesty, though, in that price range you'll likely enjoy whatever you get. In the past fifteen years the headphone market has become flooded due to the popularity of MP3 players, and it's been to the consumer's benefit. Good luck whatever you buy!

Hmm aren't the AKGs about 100 bucks? I was just trying to suggest open headphones since, to me at least, they tend to be more comfortable for long term use If the 125i is too expensive, then you can always scale down to the 80i- some people like to swear it sounds the same as the 225i which is an extra 100 bucks :o

For around $100 get the AKG K240 or Sennhieser HD555 and spend around $50 on a headphone amp.The Bravo V2 tube amp which is sold on Ebay from its maker for around $30-50. Unless you already have a powerful source you should really consider the amp.

The Audio-Technica ARH M50 will give you the best sound even up to $200. Although I would get the coiled, as the cord is extremely long, and the coil takes care of that
