Looking for a good RTS game

I am looking for a good RTS game to play and I want some recommendations. Nothing too old please. I was thinking about Total war games, World in conflict, Starcraft 2 and Company of Heroes. Your thoughts?

stcraft II is great and shogun 2 is as well.. the rest id skip except for CoH comapny of heroes is like a cd set forged from liquid win lol.. too mcuh fun was had with that game to be healthy..

Well I wholeheartedly recommend all the games you just mentioned you are looking into. Supreme Commander 1 is another one.

If you're going to play online go for Napoleon and not Shogun total war. Company of heroes is also a really really great game.

Starcraft 2

Rise of Nations is an awesome RTS game. Be sure to get it with the expansion, Thrones & Patriots. Or just get the Gold Edition. And don't bother with the sequel, Rise of Legends, it's an almost entirely different game.

I think Starcraft 2 is the most dominant RTS right now, so I'd recommend that.

If you want some thing that requires a lot of speed and is fast pace espeicially for multiplayer then SC2.

If you want some thing where you can take your time and plan out your actions then Shogun 2.

I would say get both though. Every RTS fan should have played SC and TW series.

I don't play a lot of RTS games but Company of Heroes and the expansion packs were really good..

Starcraft II! and Shogun 2 Total War, both of these games are really fun!

Funny how you titled your thread "Looking for a good RTS game" when only one of the games you are thinking about playing is actually an RTS (and that's -obviously- Starcraft 2). Total War series, World in Conflict & Company of Heroes are RTT (real time tactics). As a fan of both of these strategy subgenres, I used to have a good laugh at the expense of people who couldn't tell the difference between strategy gameplay and tactical gameplay (not the mocking kind of laugh, but the "I can't believe they can't tell the difference" kind of laugh); nowadays I just find it annoying, because more and more people seem to fail to make that distinction.

Anyway, if it's relatively new RTS games you want, then you don't have much of an option besides Starcraft 2 and the last C&C game. If it's tactical strategy you want, then those 3 you've mentioned are a must and you can add Dawn of War II and its expansions (since they are clearly RTT); IMO Ground Control 2 has also aged well and should be still enjoyable for RTT fans looking for a new game they haven't played. But seriously, you really shouldn't limit yourself to newer titles, there are a lot of old-school RTS and a few RTT (because it's a "younger" genre, after all) that should provide just as much enjoyment.

I recommend these, which are must plays, and you should quit viewing this thread and buy at least one of them at this very moment.

Age of Empires 3

Rise of Nations + expansions

Empire Earth 2

Age of Mythology + the expansion

Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars

Earth 2150
