So I'm going off to university after this summer and am getting a new laptop. I am not going to bring my 360 with me, so I am going to be doing my gaming on this laptop.

Basically, I am looking for a great laptop, price is not a problem, and I want it to be able to run anything on PC, for example Crysis on very high settings, and be able to play new games that come out in the future without problems (by future i mean a few years).

I don't know a ton about computers but I hear newegg is a good site for it, so what is a great laptop that I could game on and play any current games on very high settings?

Weel the first thing you are going to hear from these guys in here is that laptops arent for gaming! They are going to tell you that you will spend almost double for a laptop that is capable of playing the latest and greatest in games in comparison to buiding a desktop gaming PC. I however didnt listen to them. I bought a Dell XPS that is very capable of playing anything on no less than medium and alot of things including Crysis 2 on high settings. I have no issues running SC2, DAO, Brink, The Witcher 2, BFBC 2, Bulletstorm and ME 2 just to name a few. Now are they maxed out? No and unless you are going to plunk down $1500-1800 plus, there isnt a laptop out there that can run these games maxed out. The closest thing I was looking at was an Asus Laptop but the thing was huuge and looked more like a Transformer than a Laptop. It offered comparable performance to my XPS and had a sister model that was like $300 more with 1080p resolution. My Dell has a Intel i-7 2620 2.7 GHz CPU up to 3.4 GHz with Turbo Boost. 6 GB RAM, 500 GB Harddrive and a Nvidia GeForce GT 540M Graphics card. it has a 14" screen and a 1366 x 768 resolution.

The only games that I have found that can make this thing chug a bit are The Witcher 2, BFBC 2 and Metro 2033. I have to be satified with mostly medium to High setting with these games. But the others I mentioned all run on High settings with very good frames. Well atleast I think they are good framrates as I am not some uber PC expert that has a trained eye to notice things of this nature.

You're going to have to look for one with an independent graphics card if it's for gaming. That means you'll have to make sure it's plugged in almost all the time. I recommend the G6 if you're going with HP though.

 1. Wrong Forum.. Use the Pc Hardware forum for help of this kind.
 2. Look for a modest 500-700 dollar laptop and also consider building a 500-800 dollar desktop.
 3. From my experience, avoid major retailers, and major company websites such as Dell, HP, Best Buy etc. Look more to places such as newegg.com
 4. Avoid ANY laptop with only "Intel integrated graphics".
 5. Personally, I would buy a long lasting non gaming laptop with 5-7 hours battery life and build a desktop.. If you can't, look for something in the middle A sugesstion would be to look at laptops such as the Acer Aspire AS5742G $700 dollars. You should really look for something similiar to something like this in performance/price and build a nice desktop
 6. If you build a desktop be sure to take a look at

7. Do not buy a big 17 inch laptop, with the most powerful laptop graphics and CPU.. They cost way to much (1200-1800 dollars), give aweful battery life, run extremely hot on graphic intense programs and weigh to much for someone to be carrying around college all day.
