Looking for a new CPU!

Right now I have an athlon2 x3 450 @ 3.6ghz

Have a budget of $160, so looking to get an amd processor.

Any suggestions? Thinking about picking up the amd fx 4170 4.2GHz.

Why?  You should be able to find that CPU for under $110, if we're talking US dollars.

Why do you want that CPU?  Don't get me wrong..  Phenom II X4's are decent gaming CPUs and outstanding for the price that you normally pay.  The problem is that it's a 3 year-old CPU.  I think you're much better off paying $130-140 for an FX-6300 than anything over $100 for a Phenom II X4.

i suggest scrapping that build, pick up a 1155 mobo plus a pentium processor for cheap and you will see a boost in your gaming performance, no joke.

theyre the same, probably still worse than the 955.  Only improvement is the oc headroom

Should have gotten the FX-6300.  Vishera core is better.
