Currently I have an EVGA 8800gtx Superclocked Edition and I'm looking for a nice affordable upgrade. Been thinking no more than $250.

I have a ASUS P5N-D which supports Nvidia SLI but I have no interest in SLI/Crossfire. So far I've been thinking about getting a XFX Radeon HD5770 XXX Edition. The P5N-D would be compatible, right? Just can't do Crossfire. The Nvidia cards just seem like a ripoff when it comes to prices these days and the newer GTX cards seem even bigger than my 8800GTX. I'm worried about a newer GTX fitting in my case! Please let me know if you guys have any thoughts of recommendations. Thanks.

p.s. - Also leaning towards ATI since they support DirectX 11

I'd personally wait until HD5850 cards were down to around that price. If you really need an upgrade now (can't run some of the games you enjoy at the settings you want), I'd look at either the HD5830 (pricier, but better performance - but I'd probably try to stretch your budget at this point and go for an HD5850), or a more standard HD5770, which is a fair bit cheaper than an overclocked version.

The 5830 seems very unimpressive in benchmarks compared to the 5770. Just scores a bit over so I really don't think that would be worth the extra money. The 5850 is about $140 more than the 5770 which really sucks. Wish Nvidia would come out with more 400 series cards that are affordable.

if you don't mind not having dx11 the HD4890 is around $210-$230 and performs the same as the 5830 in some games its even better

So if I go with a XFX 5770, you guys recommend going with a regular version and not a superclocked version? My guess is because you can't really overclock superclocked versions as much, right?

with that being said if you cant wait i agree with everyone about ati if you dont mind not havign dx11 got with the 4xxx but if it is a must 5830-50
