I'm looking for a new RTS i've played wc3 for a long time and have no desire to get into dawn of war since theres like 15 exp packs. I'm looking for something thats like bnet that has a lot of people that play online and has a ranking system etc... But something thats not to complicated like supreme commander.
Ummm, You can buy the Dawn of War Platinium Edition for like $30.00 and it is all on one disc. But I do not reccomend Dawn of War anyways, because the online community is TERRIBLE. Just wait for DoW 2.
If your PC is up to date, I highly reccomend Company of Heroes (favorite RTS of all time), Medieval 2:Total War (The new "Gold Edition" is only $40 and comes with the expansion), and Sins of a Solar Empire (Have not played it yet but it looks awesome).
I've been playing Warcraft 3 and its expansion since the day it came out, I did stop playing during 2007 because of Guild Wars but now I'm back in the game. I'd rather wait for Starcraft 2, I played some CoH, didn't get hooked for long.
Same here. RTS seem to take quite a bit of commitment if you want to play on a competitive level which is why I'm just sticking with WC3 until SC2 comes out. ;)
DoW or CoH, DoW is a lot like WCIII in that it uses heroes on the battlefield. When you fight with your heroes you gain experience and get to buy new armor, weapons, relics, etc.
Age of Mythology was a lot of fun-still one of my favorites. I haven't tried it but Armies of Exigo is supposed to be very similar to Warcraft 3. I just bought Company of Heroes-that's next on my list.
Company of Heroes isn't a blazing fast RTS, but combat can be pretty intense. It's definitely faster than Supreme Commander and Sins, I'm not sure about C&C.
