I'm in the business to buy a new TV. I think I'd like something at least 40 inches or more. I know some basics about HD TV's but not a ton. What brands make the highest quality TV's? For gaming, is it lcd or plasma ect

yep I agree...LCD all the way...I got a sharp Aquos LCD not to long ago and I HIGHLY reccommend sharps and also sony's to ANYONE awesome!
and is that a tribe called quest album cover????
Japkila
ya man, Low End theory.
Why are LCD's better for gaming, just from reading up a bit, wouldn't lcd's blur a lot more during games, assuming you don't buy one of the new 120 refresh rate ones?
im planing to get a tv too, ive been doing some research and i found that plasma is on the way out as it was said above, plasma tvs still have the best color ratings overall, but are very heavy.
the one i found very interesting for the price is the 42" or the 46" sharp aquos 64U, it has great specs and very thin!
i think that the sony bravias are great but too much overpriced...
Plasma will fade out soon mainly because they are way overpriced and they die quicker than a LCD. As far as your question about the 120 refresh rate.... no, you dont need one of those, just make sure the LCD tv you buy has a good response time. For most gaming 8ms or lower should be good enough you dont notice any ghosting except in the most extreme cases.
Sharp Aquos and Sony Bravia are going to be the two brands I'd recomend.
I got the sharp 64u...AMAZING!!!..play games on it all day no ghost no nothing...don't worry about spec as long as you buy a new reliable brand LCD(sharp, sony, samsung, etc.) you'll be fine as far as ghosting...but all in all...just go with the best deal you get...and thats the honest truth...hope that helped...
I thought it was midnight marauders....haven't heard that in ages might have to go buy it now..haha
As far as picture quality goes...it goes like this (from highest to lowest):
1. LED
2. Plasma
3. LCD
I've seen some of the newer LED tv's on display in Best Buy and they are amazing. Too bad they cost about $10,000. Plasmas look better, but not by a huge margin. They are prone to damage easier and will die out alot sooner than an LCD.
My girlfriend and I bought a 40 inch Sony Bravia after searching around and we are really happy with it. We got BBC's Planet Earth Blu-Ray set for our PS3 and it looks beautiful on the tv.
Basically, it comes down to price. Common sense tells you the more you spend, the better you get. The TV we got was $1500 dollars and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
