Even though I only played the demo I recommend Penumbra Black Plauge. Try out the demo. If you like it I would also look into the first release Penumbra Overture. Both games are $19.99.
I was told that free release was for the original Penumbra, which was basically a tech demo. I never tried it out for myself but I did download the file and it was only 160Mb.

I agree, penumbra overture is a very scary game, so is stalker.
