Hi.

I'm looking for a good solo friendly mmo. Normally i would play WoW, but I'm bored to death with it.

I will consider any mmo that lets me solo to the level cap. I don't have to be able to solo everything, I just like to be able to explore and quest without joining a group. (Yes i realize MMOs were designed to be multi player experiences, but i prefer to play them as big single player RPGs

Right now my best bet seems to be LOTRO, so any info about it would be great. I've also been looking at getting back into EQ (the original not the second). I have heard it is a lot more solo friendly now compared to when i played (2001-2002).

Thanks in advance for any info.

From my experience Lord of the Rings Online and Everquest 2 are the most solo friendly MMOs (that I've played). Everquest 2 has a lot of characters that can solo perfectly fine, but you may have to group once or twice for certain quests. I've only played the trial of Lord of the Rings Online but I was able to solo up to around 35 or so without any problems.

I 2nd that. Eq2 Shadow of odyssey is 5 addons all together. You won't be missing content with that and is solo friendly.

Well i guess I'll take another look at EQ II and LOTRO.

You two have pretty much answered all my questions.

Thanks very much.

EQ2 is a good one to try, its got a decent free trial, and if you buy the latest pack you get completely up to date on expansions etc.

Thats a pretty good question :D

The mmo's up there are pay2play, if your lookin for free ones (like me =)), try Silkroad Online, Perfect World, Conquest Online, Flyff....

FPS - Combat Arms, Warrock.

Because its not fun when the only form of progression requires 4 other people. Being able to progress, slowly but at a reasonable pace, by yourself is much better than forced grouping.

Guild Wars is quite solo-able, especially with heroes

I agree with that 100% That's the reason no one talks about D&D online anymore, it was impossible to solo in that game. Guild Wars is probably the best solo MMO out there, but I made lvl cap in LoTR playing solo 90% of the time and I was still able to enjoy it. Of course playing as a burglar helped immensely.

Guild Wars, all campaigns. There are NPC characters you can add to your party to make up numbers

I'm more of a MMORPG soloer myself too. :P

WoW got pretty boring for me and I decided to try Perfect World and I gotta say it's brilliant. There's just something about it. I'm still pretty low in level there so I don't know how soloable it is, but I haven't had to team with anyone just yet. Go ahead and give it a try. It's free too.

Lotro is good solo, but u still need to find ppl to do fellowships with, and there are plenty of group quests to do.Im finding that aoc is the best for solo,as u can solo it all the way through without doing group quest, and the best server is the hykania rp server, very helpful ppl on it,and a lively global chat!,avoid pvp on aoc unless u like being ganked!

I hesitate bringing this up, Warhammer Online is very soloable but the game itself is based around RvR (PvP). You can hit max level by doing solo quests and respectable gear from PQs but you wont get the most out of the game unless you participate in rvr. Being a WoW player im sure you would appreciate many of the new features that WaR brings and witch hunters and their awesome hats ;).

Thanks very much everybody, I'll be getting LOTRO with the Mines Of Moria exp pack.

Also i do love WoW, but after 2 years I'm bored to death with it.

As for why i want to solo in a MMO, well XaosII said it perfectly.

I've got all the info i need. I'm not sure if i can close my own topic, but i won't be checking it again.
