I'm looking for an RTS to play... normally, I've been into turn-based strategy, specifically Civilization. Part of my attraction to that franchise is that I'm a history buff, but particularly fond of ancient history. Hence, why I figured AOE might be a good move for me. But then again, Company of Heroes got really good reviews. It's also historical and I'm definitely into that era, as much as it's been generally overdone in the video game world. Command And Conquer? Played the demo on the 360 and thought it was pretty cool, but like these sorts of games better on PC.

Suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help... and sorry to those who hate these kinds of topics, please don't flame just bite your tongue and walk away respectfully.

Age of Empires is the definite choice from my side, though I enjoy more AoE II than AoE III. Company of Heroes is also an excellent choice, but if you like Civilization then you should lean more towards AoE.

Both Company of Heroes and C&C3 are excellent RTS games, highly recommend both of them.

Company of Heroes is, IMO, the best RTS around. Command and Conquer 3 is also very good.
Homeworld is a very nice RTS if you want a game epic gameplay & a truly amazing story.

Medieval 2: Total war seems like what you'd like since it has a turn based element plus an rts one.

But seriously, where is Dawn of War???

I thought AoE 3 was excellent; if your looking for turn-based check out Galactic Civ.2 :Dread Lords, one of the best turn-based games I've played in years.

Medieval II: Total war is great... But if you don`t mind to play a game from 2002 that plays of in the Old Japan i would say Battle Realms!

I love Dawn of War. Fast paced shooting and constant violence. What more can you ask for?
