Hi there! I'm looking to buy a pre-built computer from HP.com, although I wanted some advice before I did that. Mainly because HP has a promotion where if you buy a PC you get a free XBOX 360. Now I sold my 360 around a month ago (yes, I know huge mistake), but it's a long story and so I did. Now I've mostly just been playing off my friend's 360 and I wanted to get my own again. I also wanted a good PC to play Witcher 2, and other PC games coming out at high quality, because my current laptop sucks really bad. Okay now on the computer. These are the specs that I'm looking at when I finish customizing it. Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2300 quad-core processor [2.8GHz, 6MB cache] Memory: 6GB DDR3-1333MHz SDRAM [3 DIMMs] Hard Drive: 1TB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive Graphics Card: 1GB DDR3 Radeon HD 6450 [DVI, HDMI. VGA adapter] OS: Windows 7 Home Premium Total Price: $820 (Included with XBOX 360) Now, I know that the graphics card is really weak. My main question is that in a pre-built computer such as this one, is it possible to upgrade the graphics card? After like a month, I was planning to buy a much better graphics card. I just wanted to know if this was possible, and any other advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks for helping me out! EDIT: Forgot to mention this, but I'm looking into a desktop. I realize laptops just won't have the power and desktops are better in the long run. I won't be doing that much PC gaming, but games like Witcher 2, WoW, Guild Wars 2, and the upcoming Star Wars game from Bioware are games that I'm looking forward to playing.

820 for that? No wonder they give you a "free" xbox.

Well subtract the cost of the "free xbox" and it costs around $620 Which I guess isn't bad for a prebuilt but its not great either. And to answer your question, yes you can upgrade the GPU later on, but depending on what one you want you'll have to upgrade the power supply as well.

Thanks for the replies, but what I really wanted to know was if I do get this desktop, can I upgrade my graphics card without upgrading everything else? For example, if I decide to upgrade to the AMD Radeon HD 6850, do I have to upgrade the PSU, motherboard, and stuff like that? Because if I have to, then I might as well build my own computer, and just ask you guys here on Gamespot for advice on components. I did pick out parts if I have to build my own computer, but then I saw this deal and wanted your opinion on it first.

I'm pretty sure the computer itself is $820. Because the base components start out at $749.99. All I did was the base customization, and after adding the tax, the total price comes around at $820. Though the XBOX itself is free, it's not included as part of the original computer cost. It's after you buy the computer itself.

yeah you can updgrade the GPU but as mentioned before you may have to get a better power suppy depending on what that PC comes with. Throwing a gaming card in there gonna suk down more power.

If you were to upgrade the GPU to a 6850 all you would have to upgrade is the Power Supply which would run you about $60 for a good 550w

Most prebuilt systems just give a PSU with just enough power to run what is included. I would be willing to bet the video is built in and the PSU is weak. I would say to build a new computer for 700 or so yoursefl and get the xbox yourself and you wont need to upgrade the video and PSU later. It would probably cost less

I think I might just go with what you guys said, and build my own computer instead. However, I wanted to show you guys my components, do I just list them out here or is there a better way to do it?

Listing them here is the most effective way to get feedback

All right I tried listing my components, but it said that my HTML is not well formed- no valid tags were found. Now I have no idea what this means, so if any of you can help me out thanks! :D

some long links dont work right when just pasting them. Try typing out something like CPU then highlighting it and click addinsert linkbutton in the full reply option.

Those are all the components that I had chosen. I just wanted to make sure they are all compatible with each other, and I hope I got everything down. This will be my first time building a computer, and I'm pretty sure I can do it. Thanks again guys. Any other advice again is greatly appreciated.
