I don't know what you hate so much about auto-attack. Maybe in other games auto-attacking is done alot and is what most of the combat is all about, but World of Warcraft's auto-attack in melee combat is crap compared to melee abilities. It serves kind of like a filler in combat while you wait for your real offensive moves to become available. Auto-attacking doesn't even exist for spell casters. Maybe you should look into WoW and play a spell casting class.
I know they want to advertise it as a MMORPG and i have a hard time calling it that... Its more like GW. Anyway DND is basicly like every mmo where you see the character from behind. The only difrence is that you can "swing" the weapon holding the left mouse button.
