I was just wondering had some good idea for games that would run on my laptop. I recently got it, but since i didn't buy it, it comes with Vista home basic and DirectX 10, but simply isnt good enough to run anything from the past 6 years. Hitman 2 only just runs on it, so unfortunately anything more sophisticated than that wont work.

I'm putting this out mainly to long term PC gamers, who an remember any PC classics they used to play. Any genre you can reccomend is fine for me.

Additionally, i tried Star Wars galactic battlegrounds, which refused to work because my grapics card doesnt agree with DirectDraw. So any games between those two, without too steep a system requirement, that anyone could recommend, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks

Well there are a ton of excellent early games worth playing. Some worth noting are Half Life, Half Life 2, Command and Conquer series (not 3 though), Starcraft, Simcity 4, The Sims and even Battlefield 2 if you can play it. There are also some recently released games that if ran on low quality could easily be played on mainstream systems such as Sins of a Solar Empire and the upcoming game spore has relatively low requirements.

But to really learn what games to get all you need to know is your specs. You probably know how to do this, but go to your system information to learn what your RAM is and your Processor (figure out how much GHz it is at), then learn what VideoCard you have which can be found by going to "run" and inputting "dxdiag" (although thats for XP, and I don't know about Vista). But once you learn those 3 elements, just look a the requirements of any game and if you have atleast the minimum you should be able to play it.

no one lives forever, deus ex, baldur's gate 2, fallout 1 & 2, starcraft, half-life, and diablo 1 & 2 are excellent games that you can find easily enough online.

also, grim fandango, planescape: torment, and system shock 2 are great games as well, but you'll have a harder time finding them for a reasonable price.

Wait so are you saying you have a laptop that can fully support Vista and has Direct X10? If you do then you should be able to play any game. The problem you might be having is compatibility with the older versions that arent sophistacted enough. If thats what you meant just play some free to play MMORPG's. You could also check the top 10 games for PC.
