I just want something entertaining that requires you to use ur brain, u know something with problem solving and logic required. i don't want a game that just spoon feeds you what to do next. i used to really love these as a kid and i want to take a trip down memory lane. hopefully they are compatible with vista. if possible something with voice acting, i never liked reading all that much even though i graduated from college, go figure.

Myst I-V. There is no equal to Myst when it comes to puzzle and problem solving. Absolutely no equal.

I also recommend Uru and its expansions, also a Myst game, but it's not a point-and-click.

I'll second that and throw in Broken Sword 1 & 2 as well.

Sam and Max is amazing. I subscribed to GameTap so I could get all the episodes, very funny stuff. I love every episode.

I bought the first ep of Sam and Max and downloaded the free copy of episode 4. I didn't care for them personally. Humour is a very subjective thing and I just didn't find the new Sam and Max to be funny at all. I highly recommend checking out the demos before you buy. The puzzles are very easy so you're mostly buying for the story and the jokes.

I haven't played a truly great adventure game in some years but I did enjoy the last three Sherlock Holmes games. They aren't great, but they're enjoyable enough. I think Secret of the Silver Earring is by far the most engaging with some truly tough problems to solve, a complex story and an interesting quiz system you need to pass before you can move on. It's major drawback is that it uses timed sequences so parts of it feel more like a console arcade game than an adventure.

The Awakened has a good story, but the horror elements fall flat and the puzzles are mostly pretty easy.

Arsene Lupin (Nemesis in the US and Canada) has a pretty hokey story, but a good variety of puzzles and locations to muck about in.

Ankh or Jack Keane are both great games with a funny set. There are not that much hints what u have to do next but they're also not too difficult.

Runaway is also a nice game, imo it's a little bit more difficult than the other twos.

I Miss these kind of games and companys are not making enough of them anymore. I miss the old Tex Murphy games and such. I noticed there is a Sherlock Holmes Game coming out that may have some promise.

Really? i played BS 1 about 2/3s of the way through, but got fed up because the puzzles were so stupid and had absolutely zero to do with logic or reason, thereby not fulfilling this guy's criteria of using one's brain.

However, back to recommendations: i gather Sherlock Holmes: the Awakening is good, or at least quite a few people say so - i certainly hope so cos i''ve bought it, though not got round to playing it yet

Runescape.

Oh yeah, you said good :P

I don't know really. Not the right place to say this tbh, but if you have a PS2, try and pick up a copy of the last Monkey Island game.

Runescape, i know pepperman is joking but it requires you to think, click and point :) and the quests available require solving and some need you to solve puzzles etc. www.runescape.com
