For those of you who have purchased Champions online, I have a few questions.

1. Is it anything like CoH?

2. Is it a game that you can solo most any quest or does it require grouping?

3. Will it get bigger with updates and downloads.

I played to lv. 20 in the beta. I'll try to answer as best as I can 1. Kind of. A lot of elements from CoH are there, but it's been expanded. The instanced missions are almost exactly like CoH. However, Champions is about 90% open-world missions (at least in the first 20 levels). The customization is still there and it's been upgraded a bit to make things "easier". I didn't think it was much easier, but it's supposed to be. As far as combat goes, it's a little like CoH. Rather than regenerating endurance by waiting, you have to regenerate energy by fighting. You have small, weak powers that build energy for the more powerful attacks. The powers can be adjusted and you're not linked to a specific group. I had a guy who was half-ice and half-psychic. The psychic powers were crowd control and the ice was pure damage. You can adjust some powers for different power-ups. For instance, with the ice powers I could choose to either make it do more damage or increase the crowd control. For fire powers, you can increase the damage up front or increase the lingering damage (I think). It ensures a lot of diversity in character creations. 2. Most of the quests up to lv. 20 were soloable. A lot of them were hard, but they were possible. Grouping does make things a lot faster, and the instanced missions tend to be more fun in groups because it increases the enemy count. 3. Yes. With CoH, the game was updated regularly every 3-4 months with some exceptions. I don't expect Champions to be much different.

I would also like to add that, as opposed to City of Heroes/Villains, Champions doesn't require you to repeatedly press your basic attack button. Your basic energy building attack is set to a toggle (so let's say your energy builder is assigned to key 1: you press key 1 to enable the attack and that's all you have to do for the energy builder for the duration of the fight).

Also, you generate energy from different methods depending on what build you are in. Guardians gain energy from blocking attacks, Sentinels automatically generate it at an increased rate (in addition to blocking), Avengers only gain energy from their energy builders, etc... However, each build has different strengths/weaknesses.
