I'm looking to buy a couple more fps/rts games.

My current collection:

FPS: Halo, Halo 2, Counter Strike: Source, Call of Duty 4

RTS: Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth, Battle for Middle Earth II, BME II: The Rise of the Witch King, Starcraft

Any ideas? Preferably games that are already out, but if you know of one or two good games that are coming out this year, feel free to list them.

I'm looking ideally for one fps and one rts, although two rts would be fine too. Feel free to list as many games as you want, though.

Company of Heroes, World in Conflict or Universe at War are all good recent RTS's.

For FPS, the above suggestions are good.

I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned, but if you're still using Starcraft, that's probably why but....Bioshock is a must own FPS. If you're computer can handle it, its beefier than the usual. It's not Crysis, but its up there.

I haven't found a great RTS yet. I do know that Sins of a Solar Empire is way over-rated.

For FPS, the upcoming Left4Dead will undoubtedly be a hit. Out now I'm enjoying Day of Defeat Source. RTS-wise, an unusual one called Multiwinia is coming out this month - spawning from a game called Darwinia; on Steam if you buy Multiwinia you get Darwinia free. Out now Medieval 2 is a really good hardcore RTS which will occupy you for hours and hours. Also World in Conflict is great.

Anyway, Orange box is what you need, with CoH.

Resistance 2 > Left for Dead.

Ahh so many comedians in this forum. Do you remeber the 1st resistance? Whats that word I'm look for, fish do it when they're out of water, ahh well it'll come back to me. Anyway, Valve has never let us as gamers down, consistantly producing quality. Not only are resistance 2 and L4D not alike in any way, but both revolve around to different principals of gaming.

Hey everyone Metal Gear Solid 4 is better than Company of Heroes lawwwl.

FLOP.

I think that I speak for everyone when I say that all PS3 fanboy should get out of the PC forum, you can't compare games of different genres and COH is still really good. Left 4 dead is a multiplayer game (oh yea and its spelled with a 4 dip****) while Resistance is a single player game with a weak focus on multiplayer. Besides whats more awesome than killing zombies with your friends using a mouse and keyboard

That is fun but it will get old fast. You'll see once beta time comes.

I'm sorry, did you just tell me a game coming from VALVE that isn't OUT YET but has RAVING PREVIEWS is going to be repetitive? When it has elements like AI director and 3 OTHER HUMANS too keep it from never being the same twice? I no longer need to debate this, it would be a waste of my time. Also I need to run to the store, my fanboy meter just went over 9000 and shattered into little tiny pieces.

Bioshock = mediocrity? I'm not really sure what you're speaking of. Are you saying that because it's a FPS that it's mediocre? I'm not sure you can expand much more on the FPS platform than Bioshock without calling it an entire different genre. Maybe you could elaborate on why its mediocre. I'm interested in hearing the explanation.

If you want single-player awesomeness, go with HL2. If you want multiplayer awesomeness, TF2. If you want an amazing innovative game, Portal. In short, get the Orange Box. Also, don't forget classics. I'll reccomend Thief to anybody who'll listen. It's old, but it is still brilliant. And plus, it won't cost you much.

For strategy, I can't say, but I have heard people rave about World in Conflict and Sins of a Solar Empire. As for the classics, forget Starcraft. Total Annihilation all the way! :D
