I always have loved RTS but i've never been that good at them. And I just got Starcraft 2. Any starcraft experts out there that can give me some basic strategy so I don't keep getting owned by AI on medium difficulty. Thanks. PM me, please.

I may not be a tutor, but for starters, what are you playing at? all races plasys differently and has different strengths and weaknesses.
a good way to start off (atleast) is to, as soon as you know the surroundings of your starting area, locate chokepoints, build bunkers 2-3 of them, and stuff marines in there, then build a few aa turrets, and some siege tanks later on as you get the res for them.
Making a wall so to speak of gunfire and artillery whenever something is dumb enough to come close.
However, the main thing, is to get workers, alot of them to harvest at once, when you start the game, build 2 more workers, have 1 gather, and the other build some supply depots.
The one that is building supply depots then has to build a barracks when you reach 150. While it is building make more workers.
and have them gather,
Then when youve build the barracks, set up some Bunkers, at the chokepoints if any, and stuff them with as many marines as possible, and have atleast 1 worker stand up there, ready to repair. Also the 2 aa turrets are fairly cheap spotters, and a good idea, if air units comes along. (you can build the barracks addon to be able to make 2 units at a time, to speed up production if in a pinch
After that, begin building a vasphene refinery, and depending on how far it is from your base between 3-4 workers harvesting that, while the other (around 20) workers harvest crystals, meanwhile, as soon as you have the gas, build a tank depot, and build 2 siege tanks, after that upgrade said depot, and unlock Siege mode, have the tanks stand right behind the bunkers, and use the siege mode.
It will make an overall usefull defence in the starting of the game, and will buy you time, upgrade the inf weapons but since they are in the bunkers armor is not as important.
Then tech up, and scout around the map (aircraft is preferred) if you can find another place ripe with crystals, build another hq in base, and load it with 8 workers, and have it fly up there (the buildings themself can fly) set down and make a secondary base.
This is pretty much Turteling in every sence of the word, and Terrans excell at defences, to make a good defence you could even just build a hq, and upgrade it to a planetery fortress, which will pound any groundunits within range to a fine paste.
It is notfoolproof tho, since the ai might find a weakness, so while you are setting up a good ecconomics, be on the lookout for weakpoints in the defence.
But as soon as Terrans has thier aircrafts, and tanks, even thier standard marines upgraded, and ready to toll, they are hard to stop again. Being far fewer in number then the zerg, and far more fragile then the Protoss, Terrans prefer range and firepower over shields, and speed, So turteling is kind of a terran specialty ^^ heck even a single bunker with marines and a ghost, in it can hold its own out in the battlefield for quite some time, slowing, or even stopping the enemy for a surprising amount of time (compared to SC1)
As soon as the main base defences is up, you can much around tho ^^ SC2 has far more options then SC1, building armor upgrades, and such can be worthwhile.
So first time you play a map you ahvent seen before, scout around, and let yourself die, it might sound a bit... sad... but when you restart the map, you know the layout, and you know the places you should be focusing ^^
Oh crud, forgot the PM part -.- Anyways, I am not exactly a SC2 expert ^^ I really liked the beta, and getting the game, but I am far mroe proficiant in faster paced RTS games, such as Relics.

may i be your apprentice
Read Sun Tzu's Art of War. But seriously, if you do take some of the points of that book into consideration, it basically applies to RTS games too.
I'm also kind of a newb to Starcraft 2, there's a beginner's league where they will put you with the newer players to be fair. From there as you get better, you can start playing with better people. Win or lose, you will learn something from the match, watch replays of your match and see why the opponent beat you and what was your mistake.
I have yet to try this all out myself.
1. Your early stages of a game should be used for expanding your economy as much as possible, even if you plan on rushing. Have worker units queued up all the time until at least your 2nd supply depot (or overlords, or whatever). If you know you want to make a lot of robotic units in your strategy, plan accordingly, start collecting vespene gas early. You should also make sure that you scout your opponent, this is VERY important. Don't do it as soon as the game starts, but around the time you think they'll start creating their millitary buildings, send a worker unit to their base. Based on the units and buildings that they're creating, you can predict what sort of strategy they're going to use, and you can then try and counter it or prepare yourself. Bear in mind that they will probably scout you too.
2. Start making millitary units and decide if you're going to try and rush, or play defensively. After scouting, make units to counter what they're using. I suggest you take a look at some guides of how to counter certain units because I can't list them all here. Don't forget about your economy, if you've got a lot of minerals/gas piled up this is a BAD thing unless you're saving up for something. Always try to spend your resources. If you've got too much of one take some workers off, etc. Also don't forget about supply depots, you should NEVER run out of supply, make them in advance or otherwise you'll waste a lot of time waiting for them to build before you can make more units.
3. You should be well into combat at this stage, but keep making millitary units. You should consider expanding and building another base unless you know the game is about to end. If you're units are getting destroyed, it might not be too late to change your strategy.
Once you get really good, learn how to use hotkeys, most professionals use them and it saves a lot of time. Obviously this is for SC2 but you can apply this to other RTS games as well.
Okay, you don't know what you're talking about. RTS games are hard, you going to have to lose to learn how to play (how else are you going to test your strategies?). It me took forever to beat hard AI in Company of Heroes and even longer to win in an online match. It does help when someone teaches you some strategies but I don't think that will ever really prepare you. One of the most important skills in RTS games is reaction, if you don't know how to react (counter) to something your going to have a hard time. And the only way to learn that is to play the game.
