Hi, I am currently looking for a Fantasy or Steampunk RPG for PC. Graphics are relatively important. I want a game with 3D graphics that are not cartoony. I do not like MMO's. I enjoy both story driven games and fast paced hack and slash. I have a laptop with Windows 7, so I can run most games. Games with character/gender/class customization are preferred. Skill based games are fine as well.

Thanks

Elder Scrolls Morrowind or Elder Scrolls Oblivion. Oblivion is newer with better graphics, but morrowind is better.

Dragon Age

Neverwinter nights 1 or 2

If you dont allready have it then I surgest The witcher (fantasy rpg), its quite good, has a good story, I enjoyied the faster tuen usual combat (well it is slow at first but once he levels up its a blaze) You do have a predefined character tho...

As for steampunk games, it is sadly a astting that is rarely used, which is a shame because It is a really interresting one. Only one I can think of is Arcanum, and it is anything but what you are looking for.

For me, the reason why I tend to want to make my own character is if the premade one doesn't feel right. I am happy to play a premade character if it looks relatively normal and has some skill choice.

hard to say if you would like TW then, I find the character really awesome, and there is alot of observations about him and his missing of place in the world...

But flexible he aint. As far as Ive seen The melee choices are far the best, signs are more of a gamble.

Altho it was not what you asked You might want to check out Vampire the masquerade: Bloodlines, one of the better storydriven games, but still no steampunk. Best characters Ive seen (most fleshed out) in any RPG to date. it is cheap, and can have some decent combat, (if updated using the community patch)

You could ofcourse Check out Oblivion aswell (as someone else stated) I do find it better to think of it as an adventure game instead of an RPG tho.

Honestly, Rpgs have become somewhat comform I guess... They usually seem so alike these days -.-

I am a big Dungeon Siege fan, so I will recommend it to you. If you want big freedom in movement and in story, you should try Morrowind. And last, but not least, you should try Titan Quest with some additional mods.

Also, I might want one casual dungeon crawler along with a full blown story oriented RPG, so recommendations for both are greatly appreciated.

A few RPG's that you should not miss if you own a PC. Some have been stated in this thread.

1. The Witcher

2. Dragon Age Origins

3. Elder Scrolls III (best Elder Scrolls)

4. Elder Scrolls IV

5. Torchlight ( I say this because it has a steampunk character, it's a dungeon crawler, and it's on sale for $5 at steam, huge freakin steal)

6. Neverwinter Nights

7. Baldurs Gate 2

8. Icewindale 2

And I know this doesn't fall in into your category BUT..
