warhammer 40k: dawn of war 2 + chaos rising (ideally get the gold edition which bundles both). simply put amazing game....

leveling, equipment all that fun stuff. its single player spans about 60 levels (if you exclude the repeatable ones for extra phat lewt) and unlike those games your lesser units actually toss banter back and forth about the situation at hand as opposed to just sitting there. and in chaos rising you begin what i hope is continued in an expansion to be a walking of the line between good and evil.

the multiplayer is fairly strong and has two modes you will probably find familiar... 1v1 up to 6 v 6 and hero fights (last stand)

has an uber cool army painter.

however it is faily pc demanding i wouldnt recommend playing this game on just any old pc...

MY system requirements for this game:

intel pentium dual core 2.5ghz or better/ amd athalon 64 x2+5200 (2.6ghz)

2gb ram (4gb is ideal but not required)

ati hd 2600xt or better

nvidia 8600gt/9500gt/gt115/gt210/gt310(there the EXACT SAME gpu) or better

you could also take a look at something like C&C Red Alert 3 which is a fun RTS with a great co-op feature, although it doesnt really have RPG elements you do level your units up making them stronger and giving more abilities.....or even go completly out of the square and try something like 'the Settlers 7' which is a CIV/RTS ive been having a grear time with it recently.

yup played that, but im looking for something with a good story line, and the story line of most of command and conquer games is just so that there is a story line, its pretty boring..

ya ya i know, if u want a story line just read a book. but doing a campaign with the additional thrill of wanting to know what happens next in the story adds to the fun, and it also makes the first hour when ur learning the game bearable.

well if you want a really good story line in a RTs game other than the above suggested DoW2 how about picking up the gold edition of Company of heroes here's a link to a review i wrote of the game, its afew years old but still is a fantastic gaming experience with graphics that still look fantastic today. it has as i said a great single player campaign, skirmish and LAN/MP game modes, and the community is still very active...good luck in your choice.

yes but the story is very narrow and terribly cliche.. seriously i went halfway through it and fell asleep alot of the time from boredom :P

Company of Heroes and Aposing Fronts were both great RTS games and fit your criteria quite nicely.
