So I've recently decided to update my 2-year old gaming mouse. And this time, I didn't want to get any mouse, but a gaming mouse - the perfect mouse for an FPS gamer like myself.

Anyways, long story short, after days of hunting, my eyes caught the attention of the Logitech G502 Proteus Core, it was love at first sight. When I unboxed it and started using it however, my worst nightmare came to life. It didn't feel comfortable at all, there was/is no rest for my ring and pinky resulting in my fingers continuously sliding down the side of the mouse and scraping the mousepad - further making it difficult for comfortable 'lift-off'

In regards to my mouse grip, I have a hybrid grip and I'm used to there being a dent on the right side of the mouse so that I can comfortably place my ring and pinky finger. Basically, I have a palm grip but my hand is slightly back and my palm doesn't rest - if that makes sense.

Ultimately, I'm wondering what mouse would be perfect for my very specific grip and my slightly above average sized hands.

Thanks in advance :)

EDIT: I'm currently looking at the Corsair M65 Vengeance

I like Logitech. I've used Razer (3 different ones) and a bunch of others but Logitech's seem to last the longest and have great builds. Razer products have garbage build quality, even their high end $150 mouse.

@tommyhawkes365:

Normally I would recommend a roccat kone xtd but if you're looking for something that will support the pinky and ring finger then you should look at Mionix NAOS 8200.

It's got a rest spot for those fingers and I have heard a ton of good things about this mouse.

Speaking fingertip, I would go with either CM Spawn that I'm currently using or Razer Ouroboros.

If you want a good sort of FPS mouse you should also look for SteelSeries Kana V2, it has one large thumb button and that's it, but I wouldn't count it as fingertip, might be for you if you say you have slightly above average sized hands.

I don't get the razer love. I have had two of their mice (and tried the mamba) and didn't really care for either of them. To me they are some of the most uncomfortable mice ever.

CM Spawn, cheap, finger support, decent sensor, small so it's perfect for fingertip, it's on the heavy side tho, 142g

It's good but had one major problem for me....the button on the side kept accidently getting pushed by my thumb especially during faster games like FPS.

You should be fine. :)

I'm bad about that...my grip I guess, I don't know. It's a good mouse though.

Never tried that one....it got decent reviews and all but I'm a little reluctant of a cooler master mouse.

I'm sure it's a good mouse though.

I have it, it's a good mouse if you like that shape. Clicking is good, cord is fine, sensor is alright.

I just absolutely dislike the hump on the side, I don't want any finger support there. My friend recommended I try it out which is the reason I got it.

I generally like mice with aggressive shapes like the g302, so it's all personal preference of course.

Liking the suggestions guys, I will definitely look into the Mionix (which looks hella comfortable and doesn't seem heavy from what I researched) and the CM Spawn.

Also, nobody seems to be mentioning the Corsair M65 Vengeance/RGB, are these not good mice? Are they not comfortable/suited for people with slightly above average sized hands?

Edit: CM Spawn is 142g, dayum o_o

True, lol but it's awesome for fingertip grip because of it's size.

Also I do not like light mouses, it makes them feel cheap and empty.

I used to think that as well. But I like my mouse to glide effortlessly. My logitech G700s is 152g I believe and it's one of the major flaws imo....that and the battery life.

Right now I'm using a Roccat Kone XTD and it's truly in a league of it's own imo. Everything from the ergonomics to the tracking to the software is just so well done. And best of all when you remove the weights it's feather light.

I have the M65 and like it, but it doesn't have anywhere to rest your ring and pinkey finger.

The mouse before my Spawn was Kone XTD, my movement was almost the same, excepft for now that I actually use my grip type mouse - It feels way better

The reason I didn't recommend the Kone XTD was because it sounded like he was a claw grip. The Roccat's are a bit too big for that and really made for a palm grip. That said according the reviews the Mionix NAOS works well for both.

Well, it's really difficult to describe my type of grip, it's like a palm grip but with my hand slightly back and my palm lifted (not resting) - hopefully that makes sense.

@tommyhawkes365: I bought this REALLY HIGH QUALITY mouse from amazon for $8.99 when i got it it was faulty but they sent me a new one and its been working well for months now it has extra buttons on it plus sensitivity control and cool led that change colors well now its $9.99 but here is the link. [IM NOT TRYING TO ADVERTISE BTW] http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KD3NY2A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Its not bad compared to $100 mice plus the usb cable on this is braided fabric so its pretty cool.

I'm fine with the same old Microsoft Intellimouse Optical 1.1A USB type that I've used for over a decade.

For a while i have been eyeing the Mionix 7000 and / or 8000.

Just picked up the 7000 from FRYS, I'll give my opinion after a few hours of play time.

So I tried the Mionix NAOS 7000. It is a really nice mouse...good button placement, clicks well, feels great and it's very light and built well. I had one major problem...my grip. The mouse while wide sits really low so the base or my palm / wrist was a little uncomfortable. I used it for a couple days and decided it wasn't for me. Very nice mouse overall though.

I ended up picking up a Roccat Tyon and so for this is one beast of a mouse. At first look it appears to have too much going on with some many buttons but they are placed so well that you don't even notice them. Man, these guys at Roccat know what they are doing...so far the best mouse I have ever used.

What's so impressive about it is that you really don't even notice the buttons unless you're using them.

If you're going to use that mouse, you need to overclock it to at least 250hz, preferably 500 or 1000hz. The max tracking rate at the default hz is 125hz, and the max tracking speed is 1.0m/s which is too slow. And if you have a 120/144hz display, your cursor skips a lot at 125hz.

Only way to overclock it is in WIndows 7/below, or having an asrock fatal1ty motherboard.

One annoying this is if you play on ESEA, you need driver signing off, so you need a fatal1ty motherboard with the mouse oc function. It's a good mouse though, but not worth the hassle anymore.

@BSC14: Nice to hear that you've managed to find a good mouse yourself. I was thinking of the Tyon but it just doesn't seem like the mouse for me. I have a feeling that it would be too small of a mouse for my slightly big hands.

Also, regarding the Mionix NAOS 7000/8200, does it have easy and comfortable lift-off? Cause although I tend to play with a high DPI, I still find myself lifting off and that's one huge problem I had with the G502 - I had so much difficulty lifting off comfortably (most of the time dropping the mouse) in the middle of intense combat.

The Tyon is pretty dang big man...a good bit bigger than the Mionix just not as wide. The Mionix is not that big really it's just really wide due to the extra finger support on the right side of the mouse. I just did not like how low the Mionix sat. I like my mouse to sit a bit higher into my palm.

As to your other question, I did notice it wasn't overly easy to lift. It's super light but seemed like it was sliding out of my hand when I picked it up. That said even at 1440p I didn't really need to lift it much at all.
