are you going to be buying a pre-built?

get someone to build one for you, or build it yourself?

also what price range would you be looking for?

Alright mate, here's a nice cheap PC, that certainly wont be harsh on the pocket, and will run AoC very nicely! And I've also got US Pricing, I come from Australia. :)

CPU- Intel E4500 ($124.99)

Motherboard- Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3 (No clue on US pricing)

RAM- A-DATA 2GB Kit 800Mhz ($43.99)

GPU - Inno3D 8800GT ($179.99)

Case - Antec Sonata 3 (which comes with a 500W PSU saving you even more cash :) ($149.95)

Optical - Pioneer 20x SATA 215BK (No clue on US pricing, around 15-20 probably)

HDD - Seagate 500GB 7200RPM 32MB Cache SATA II w/ NCQ ($109.99)

Enjoy! If you want something more, or less powerful, I can certainly help. :) Do you need a LCD Screen?

Cheers.

Why would you not play a game on max settings?, PC gaming should be played the way it's meant to be played.

Yeah
Now back to the main subject, your budget which will decide how good is your PC will be and wether you have anything in your hands now like amonitor which will take agood amount of money...

Now, for the system that Cheese recommended, i'd change few things. First of all, I'd rather push my budget abit to get E8200 and if you do prefer to get Quad-Core cpu then Q9300 is great.
For Rams, since Crucial are offering their rams with such low prices after rebates, i'd take them.
Now for the Case/PSU, those are great but if you really want better combo even maybe within same price range, then you can get CM 690 for 70$ which is one of the best in its size especially for the great air-flow and with another 80$ you can get powerful PSU from Corsair (Maybe 420w ~ 520w).
Finally, about the GPU, i'd skip 8800GT at this point because yesterday when i was revising the prices at newegg, i found out that you can get 8800GTS(G92) for 200$ and imo, this extra performance and running cool especialyl because of the dual slot cooler is really worth 20$.

Hope that helps
