Right now I'm using the modem that time warner supplies with road runner (a cheap motorola one). I'm looking into getting a cable modem that will possibly offer better performance, no dropouts, and have ethernet connections.
It would be nice to have 4 gigabit ethernet ports on it, but doesn't have to. Should I go with something like this or should I get a router in addition to the modem? I don't want wireless. I have no desire for it. I'll be using my PC, 360, PS3, and a Windows Home Server. A fifth port wouldn't hurt either for future expansion. But please, no wireless. I want security and speed.
Any suggestions?
Also, I should have you know that I'm currently using a D-Link Gamers Lounge DGS-4300. This wireless router has 4 gigabit ports and has served me well thus far. Is there something really better than this or does what I have seem good enough? I suppose I may just need to get a better modem. The main thing I'm trying to do is to eliminate dropouts and more speed if possible. I am using Road Runner standard (not turbo).
Thanks.
