System:

3.4GHZ Quad (AMD Phenom 2 X4 BE)

4GB DDR3 1333 RAM

8800GTX

M4A79XTD EVO MOBO

600W Corsair PSU

I want an ATI card tbh and my price range is around £200

I want to be able to play future releases like Crysis 2 (I read it will require less than Crysis 1 +WH) at near enough max settings on a kinda low resolution smoothly (1360x768 res)

So yeah a £200 +/- GPU :P

Tah!

Isn't a bump it's still on first page but I need to share my stupidity. I clicked this topic again, read the system specs and said to my mate, omg this guy has the exact same system as me!!! -_-

Ah, but you forgot about the overclock potential of the GTX 460.

Just a note, ATI don't exist, no such thing anymore.

Anyway, probably a 5870 or a 6870 (I dunno how much these cost), or if we are talking about USD, CDN, AUD or anything else.

You might be able to get a gtx 470 for £200, and when overclocked it will be a beastly card

OK I think if I get a HIS HD 6850 (only £130 on overclockers) I then have some left over, and I will probably spend that on a new fan and cpu cooler just to even the system out :D I looked at some HD 6850 vids and it handles things like crysis warhead and metro really well so I have no worries and it looks like it could cater for my needs :D and in the future if I want more performance I'll just buy another for cf? Would that be a bad choice? :) Thanks guys

Look at a 6870, AMD changed the naming scheme, so a 6850 is from the 5750, but its roughly a 5850 now (I hope that made sense). A 6870 is the successor to the 5770 (NOT the 5870), thats the 69xx series.

Is it really worth the extra 50 quid for the 6870 ahead of 6850? I could probably get it it's just I want value I don't see the point in getting better when I don't need better. (Or can the 6850 not run demanding titles on max at my res?)

Well I personally would get the new 6950 its faster then gtx 460 and gtx 470 and 5870, I just quick googled it and its 220 pounds so its not that over budget, if it is just wayt a month and it will drop around 200 or you can save up, 8800 GTX is not that bad. :)

Considering your resolution, either the GTX 460, the 6850 or 6870 would be fine

I think I can get the 6870 so will be getting that or 6850.

Only thing holding me back is this...is this a really good deal (it seems so?)http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1280mb-palit-gtx-470-40nm-3348mhz-gddr5-gpu-607mhz-shader-1215mhz-448-cores-2x-dvi-mini-hdmi

why is it so cheap?

The 6850 is great, at reference it is slightly faster than a 460 but it does not overclock as well.
